summer swim

JUNE 14TH 1994

(mentions of injuries,child abuse and anorexia )

The heat had taken hold of the castle and it was insufferably hot everywhere the classes where cancelled due to the heat and people where fighting over shade in the garden and courtyards

I was sitting in my dorm enjoying the quiet and calm of the tower I had cast a spell on the fireplace to radiate cool air through the room I was reading and smoking a cigarette simultaneously when I heard a shy knock on my door and the soft singsong voice of luna echo through the wooden door

"love?? Are you here?"

"yes luna I'm in here"

She opened the door and it gave a small creak I didn't look up from my book because the text had my attention but when I did my jaw dropped letting the cigarette drop into my lap and burning my leg I hissed in pain as I grabbed it from my leg

Luna was stood before me in a light blue bikini she looked so amazing her curves accentuated by the bikini her blond long hair like a veil behind her she was so stunning as she walked forward and put a hand on my thigh where the new burn mark was located and she rubbed it whispering softly but I was to focused on her beauty she saw my stare and chuckled leaning down and kissing my thigh right on the burn mark I felt a shiver go down my back as I let out a soft moan

She put her hand on my cheek and asked

"my love would you like to swimming with me??"

I nodded and stood up to grab my bathing suit she grabbed my hand and looked me in the eyes in that way she always did when she was asking me to take off the fake skin charm and I was very hesitant but she grabbed her wand and did it for me

The fake skin charm lifted off my body and my scars and bruises appeared I didn't like to walk around with my scars out like that I always got stares from other students who would whisper and mock me for it some girls where even jealous of my malnourished body as I was quite skinny due to my parents holding a strict view on what I ate as a child and teen

She ran her hand along my back making me shiver again she pulled me closer softly and pressed her soft lips on my neck as I leaned my head back slightly her hands ran over my back and waist when she pulled my t-shirt off I felt like I was on could 9 but we remembered we were going to swim and she helped me put on my bathing suit

We walked through the corridor towards the black lake hand in hand I felt the eyes on my exposed skin and scars it made me slightly uncomfortable but not enough to make me turn back as we walked onto the soft grass I saw harry and Draco already in the lake splashing each other and laughing like crazy

We slowly got into the water I felt my wounds sting as the cold salty water washed into them luna grabbed my hand and comforted me as we swam a little out in the lake

I suddenly felt something brush past my leg and pull me down under the water Luna's hand slipped as I was pulled under the water aggressively I looked down and saw a plant pulling me down I thrashed and pulled away at the plant but it didn't snap and kept pulling me down I felt my amount of oxygen dwindling dangerously fast and I tried to grab onto anything to pull myself back up but I couldn't I felt my head go light and I was so close to passing out my eyes where closing and I was certain this was the end

Then

I felt hands grabbed me under my arms and pull me up with such force my ankle snapped and I screamed in agony clenching my hands under the water as I came back to the surface I gasped and coughed up water my ankle throbbing with agonizing pain as I was laid down on the grass and I felt a hand tapping my back to help me cough up the water my eyes where still closed but I heard the soft but firm voice of Sirius black trying to calm me down as I heard luna sob softly with harry telling her its not her fault

I screamed out as Remus grabbed my foot trying to analyse the damage and Sirius immediately pulled me onto his lap

"shhh darling its okay Sirius is here"

He held me close as Remus wrapped my foot in a bandage with every move I whimpered of even screamed the pain was so harsh and so familiar as well it reminded me of the time mother had stomped on my leg when I was 8 it had snapped and she let me lay there on the floor crying out to her begging for something to numb the pain but she didn't it took 5 days of me stumbling and crying in pain top anyone who was capable of helping me when she came to her senses and let Narcissa heal my foot I had cried in relief and tried to hug her but she turned her back coldly and walked away when my leg was healed

When Remus had bandaged my leg him and Sirius pulled me up holding me so I wouldn't step on the foot and carried me to the hospital wing as luna harry and Draco followed luna still sniffling and Draco in shock at what had happened

Madam pomfret heard what had happened and remined us that swimming in the black lake was a stupid idea and that it was inevitable that someone would get hurt She gave me skelegrow which tasted horrible and I had to have an oxygen tube because I still was gasping due to the water in my lungs

Luna apologized profusely and I held her telling her it wasn't her fault but she stayed feeling guilty for days after
