Autumn at Hogwarts was a breathtaking sight, with the leaves outside transforming into vibrant shades of gold, crimson, and amber. Each day seemed to drift by peacefully, filled with the promise of a new school year. As I strolled down the ancient stone hallways, the air was crisp and slightly infused with the scent of pumpkin spice wafting from the nearby kitchens. I made my way to the library, where I hoped to find a book that would help me prepare for my upcoming Care for Magical Creatures lesson. The anticipation of learning about the fascinating creatures we would study sent a shiver of excitement through me as I envisioned the wonders that awaited.
I heard hurried footsteps echoing behind me and turned to see Harry sprinting past, his head buried in his hands. His normally calm demeanour was replaced by an urgency and distress I had never seen in him before. He always took a moment to wave and share a smile as we crossed paths in the school hallways, often eager to engage in conversation. This frantic, withdrawn behaviour was startling and completely out of character for him, leaving me concerned and confused.
"h-harry?? Wait up! What's wrong!!"
I rushed after him, my heart pounding in my chest as I quickly closed the distance between us. When I finally reached him, I took hold of his arm and gently turned his face toward me. I noticed a tear streaming down his cheek, a silent testament to his pain. His other hand was clamped over the left side of his face as if trying to shield himself from the world. I felt an urge to comfort him, so I grasped his hand and pulled it down. What I saw made my stomach tighten-a dark, angry black eye was forming, the bruised skin contrasting sharply against his pallor. It was clear that he had endured something brutal, and my heart went out to him at that moment.
"What happened did you fall??"
He shook his head and tried to turn away but I pulled him back and asked again.
"Did someone hurt you? Did they punch you?"
He nodded slightly and I was immediately furious.
"Who was it? Oh I'll kill them... but first, let's get you to Remus to get that eye checked"
We hurried down the hallway to Remus's office, Harry still shielding his face with his hands. The urgency in our stride nearly propelled us through the door without a second thought. Inside, Remus was nestled in his favourite armchair, a slender book in one hand and a cigarette idly burning in the other. The soft glow of the afternoon light filtered through the window, illuminating the space filled with the scent of old paper and smoke. In the corner, Sirius was carefully tending to the plants, his hands steady as he poured water into their thirsty soil. Just as we burst in, Remus's cigarette slipped from his fingers, hitting the floor, while Sirius instinctively set down his watering can, eyes wide with surprise.
"what happened what's wrong!!"
Sirius ran towards us kneeling and pulling Harry's hand off of his face
"Oh, sweet Merlin! What happened darling?"
He said gently running his thumb down Harry's face to wipe up the tears streaming down Harry's face and looking at the black eye with concern.
Remus came over and leaned his head back opening his eye and shining a light in it.
"oh dear that pupil is huge and it isn't going down. Where are your glasses, Harry?"
Harry fished in his back pocket and pulled out broken glasses which had been stomped on. Remus walk3ed to his cabinet grabbed a bottle of mertlap essence and gently spreading the stuff on his eye
