"But when?" I asked Aunt Laura, clearly upset.

"I don't know Cassidy! I'm going for a meeting later this week, they'll give the jobs then!" She yelled back, making Avery's lunch.

"Aunt Laura it's been weeks, I just want to do something, anything!" I said, her barely trying to acknowledge me anymore.

"Stop okay! Drop it for right now! You have to be patient, that's the only way this will work." She replied, "Avery Charlotte Pierce, it's time to go!" She said, Avery scrambling out of her room, giving me a hug and running out of the door, followed by Aunt Laura.

It's been a while since I got my last job, about 3 weeks to be exact. It's tearing me apart. Was I not good enough for Wintercrest anymore?

Wintercrest is the kind of underground company that people go to when they need things to be done, to be taken care of. I think I'm perfectly able to take in any person they ask, but all I have to do is wait. Wait for them to give me an assignment.

Aunt Laura says that she understands how I'm feeling, but honestly all she talked about were her back-to-back jobs. She'd take in a guy one day and take another the next. She was a force to be reckoned with. That's why they put her as head of the staff at Wintercrest. She made a name for herself. I want a name for myself.

I sighed as I went back to my room, flopping to my bed, then realizing school exists and I should probably get ready. I chose to wear black jeans and a white tank top, with an unbuttoned pink button-up shirt. I sat down putting a few things into my backpack before sending a quick text.

I smiled at the message before grabbing my bag and walking to my car to drive to pick up Millie.

Luckily enough, the drive from my house to hers is only about a five-minute drive and a ten-minute walk. As I parked my car, I excitedly got out to knock on the door. I heard a bit of crying and shuffling around the house before the door finally opened, revealing Millie holding Wyatt, who was crying hysterically.

"I'm sorry lovey I really have to go, I promise I'll be back soon, okay?" Millie said, wiping his tears and trying to put him down.

"Wyatt wants Millie!" The boy continued to cry, wailing around.

"I'm sorry, you can come in for a few minutes." Millie addressed me, who took a step inside, "Dad, come get Wyatt please! I have to go!" She yelled up the stairwell.

"I'm working Camila! Just handle it!" He replied, to which I scoffed, picking up Millie's bag myself and trying to help her as much as I could.

"Here's a juice Wyatt, please go upstairs to daddy's room, okay? I love you." She smiled, handing him the drink as he was still crying, but okay enough for us to be on our way.
