"Come here." I sighed as a tear came down my face, mascara running with it.
I just heard Avery say that she thought she saw our mom.
"I really thought it was her Cassie, I really did!" She cried as I held out my arms for her.
She got up from her seat and ran into my arms, holding onto me as if her life depended on it.
We were currently sat at our dinner table, surrounded by party decorations as my birthday party ended a little over an hour ago.
Millie was somewhere upstairs tending to Wyatt while Avery told me the story of how she thought she saw our mom while she was at the store today. Avery was quite sad the whole party, denying the emotion to anyone who asked, but I knew, so that's why I pulled her aside to the table.
"Avery, you don't have to worry about Mom, or Dad."
"Why not?"
"Because you're family is what matters, your real family. Me, Aunt Laura, Millie, Wyatt. We're your family Avery, we're right here." I said, earning a teary smile from Avery as she looked up at me from the hug.
"I love you Cassie." She replied, hugging me tighter around my waist.
"I love you Ave." I said as I looked up to see Millie standing in the doorframe, crying as well.
I reached out one of my arms to her, signaling for her to come over to us, and as she did, Avery broke away from my hug and consumed Millie in one, causing them to both sob quietly.
I got up from my chair and wrapped my arms around both of them, Millie looking to me and smiling as she wiped her tears. I bent down in front of Avery and took her hands in mine, giving me an idea.
"Do you wanna go for a late night snack run?" I smiled, causing Avery to perk up quickly.
"Yes! Just like we used to! And then we can watch Sleeping Beauty and eat our snacks on the couch!" Avery cheered, jumping up and down as her tears subsided.
"Perfect, now we have to show Millie how it's done, ready?"
"Oh yeah!"
"What am I getting myself into?" Millie laughed, looking at the two of us before we put our shoes on and quickly ran out of the door.

"Shit, shit, shit!" I said, seeing the blue slushie I just spilled all over my shirt in the gas station, Avery laughing her ass off as Millie quickly came up to me.
"Are you alright?" Millie said worriedly as she grabbed some napkins for me to help clean the mess.
"Walker it's just slushie, I'm fine-" I nearly finished before I slipped in the slushie that was surrounding me as well, Avery laughing even harder now, Millie freaking out.
Millie quickly helped me up as I continued laughing, causing a smirk to come from Millie.
"You are so clumsy!" Millie sighed, pulling an extra shirt out of her purse and handing it to me.
"Hey! Why do you have my shirt in your purse?"
"Just in case I spill something on myself, or in this case, you spill something on yourself." Millie now laughed, suggesting I go to the bathroom and change.
I quickly took a walk of shame to the gas station bathroom, luckily we had come closer to midnight so not many people were there to see me.
I changed into the shirt rather fast, not wanting to stay in the bathroom for too long, or leave Avery and Millie alone for too long either.
