It was around 9:00 and I was flipping through my pile of homework to see what to accomplish next. I chose to complete some math since I was fairly good in the subject and it would take the least amount of time. I took out my calculator and began on doing my work.

Today was a perfect day. Every other day of my life should be jealous because this one was better than the rest. I was able to breathe and be present with Millie and Wyatt.

I shook my thoughts when I got a text.

I dropped my mouth in shock and immediately turned off my phone to go and answer the door.

"Come in, please come in Millie." I said frantically rushing them out of the cold. Once inside, tears began to rush down her face.

"I'm so sorry." She cried as I pulled her in for a hug.

"Please don't apologise for anything, if you want to talk, I'm here." I said, trying to stay calm and help as much as I could.

"I just can't deal with him right now, it's not good for me, it's not good for Wyatt to be around." She continued, now crying into my shirt as my arms tightened around her waist.

"I know, I know. Let's get you in some warm clothes and into bed okay? You're gonna be okay." I replied, pulling away from the hug to help her carry her suitcases and Wyatt to the room.

"He fell asleep on the walk here." She said in a near monotone voice, now sitting on the corner of my bed.

"That's okay, you both sleep on the bed, I'm going to go get some blankets for a pallet on the floor." I shrugged off, getting some extra blankets from the linen closet.

When I came back in, Wyatt had gone off the bed and fell asleep on the floor himself. I picked him up slightly and laid down the blankets around him so he could be comfortable.

"Would you be okay with sleeping in my bed with me? If not it's totally fine I just don't want to wake up Wyatt-"

"It's okay." She said, cutting my rant off, giving me a weak smile.

"I'm happy you felt safe enough to come here. I wouldn't want you out by yourself, you're still recovering." I added, referring to the accident. Millie moved closer to me on the bed, facing me directly.

"I knew that if I left I would come here." She nodded, pulling some hair behind her ear and then taking my hands into her own.

"You don't deserve any of this." I said, looking into her eyes.

"You're perfect Cassie." Millie smiled lightly, taking a hand away to wipe her tears.

"I want you to know you can always come to me, for anything at all." I assured, rubbing her hand slightly.

"Thank you, for everything."

"It's no problem Walker." I grinned.

We sat in a delicate silence for a few more seconds before I went to grab one of the blankets behind Millie. As I leaned over to her to pick it up, I got really close to her. After I grabbed it I went to sit back up, but I caught Millie eyes in my own.
