3. My Snapshot: Armadillo
(11/17/08)
Upon the small, humble armadillo,
I give praise to it, the samurai warrior,
For its body-armor (majestic in sight)
Instills the aura of the samurai class.
The armored one, the tooth-deflector,
Can run fast and faster with its four
Roadrunner feet and escape quickly
With its silent, ninja footsteps;
However, the armadillo is a ninja
Wearing fraudulently the samurai's suit,
For it's more like a ninja, the jackal
Of night, than he himself declares.
Instead of taking the samurai's stance
When danger comes, the armadillo
May retreat its ninja way, or swim its
Ninja strokes through water, or cower
Like a peasant inside its armored shell;
But should these flaws mark the
Armadillo as a cowardly animal, a craven?
Hell no! Through my eyes, it's a wily creature
Of many talents—talents that compel me
To glorify this animal in the highest.
