25. Path Less Treaded
(3/7/09)

Though to walk in previous footsteps
Comforting may be, to tread on grounds
Unknown, where challenges lay ahead,
Is still a greater feat, a much nobler cause.
I must use my own strength  to carry myself
Beyond what has already been laid for me
In the architectural field of study and college;
For that is what separates boys from men
And apprentices from masters. Within
Such a course untrodden, I want to create
What Classical greatness once was, when such
Genius was still new in today's old houses
And buildings. I even hope to restore
Old landmarks to their former nostalgic
Grace that first dazzled people to this here sin city,
Las Vegas. Indeed, I want to reinvigorate
This town to cherish its golden past gone by.
Thus in doing, I shall blaze and expand
An narrow path to security and comfort
For those new arrivals, as my dad has done
So many years ago. Still, though encouraged,
I must become a follower to become a master
Architect via the college way of fine arts;
For I have already chosen my destiny.
All I now have to do is reach for the stars
And not look back.

(To be continued...)

A/N: Yep, I was really crazy back then; after visiting with a few students at UNLV who told my how crazy the architecture studies were (and I mean no sleep, constant time pressure and freaking presentations, ah! I hate those), I've decided to keep my feet on the ground. Besides, these days there's not that much opportunity for student architects with all the economic problems and corrupt Wallstreet and bank bailouts and inflation. Yes, I watch the news, and it's freaking scary! The real world is scarier than I thought.
