11. CircleWedding Vows
(12/7/08)

The climax of life's circle is upon
Us; bands are fitted on our ring fingers,
Combining our fates in togetherness,
But can this band of faith stay unbroken?

All is well and lovely when all's in peace,
But if—no when—worldly strife comes knocking
On the door, will you stay in faithfulness?
Or will impatience steal you from my arms?

And when I fight alongside my country
(Me in hellish strife), may my soul find its
Heaven in the sweet memories of you
And in holding you in my arms once more.

Therefore, when strife concludes and I return,
May my lips fall on your ungiven hand;
But till then, stay true to wedding band vows,
Until my breath escapes me nevermore.

Still, my return to you lies far away;
So unto the hallowed angels of lore,
"Keep my love's prayers alive in her heart,
While she keeps my prayers alive for me."

(To be continued...)

A/N: I feel so embarrassed sharing this poem with you guys, but I don't mind anymore. Looking back, I can't believe I was so lovey-dovey when I wrote this.
