A Poet's Progress
By Fox-Trot-918. Nike Shoes
(2/9/09)My first pair of shoes,
Although worn and old, carry the scares
Of a well-lived childhood. In fact, back
In my early elementary school days,
I ran those Nike sneakers to death,
While frolicking around with my friends during
Recess. Back then, I remember kicking my first,
Good ball-kick with those shoes, the ball
Hurtling through the air towards an unwitting
Victim: I would have laughed my head
Off, if that guy didn't have
A bloody nose. Also, I remember
Running and sliding along the grass,
While my best friend, Alan, and and I
Enacted the "Dukes of Hazard."
I even remember flinging those sneakers high
In the air just for the carefree fun.
Still, with all my Nike sneakers have suffered,
Each scare reminds me of a bygone
Era of almost absolute freedom,
Of days that after the inevitable march
Of time shall be missed.(To be continued...)
A/N: Believe it or not, I still have those Nike sneakers. Every time I look at them, I still remember those good-old days of fun, fun and more fun! I really miss those days.
