4. Soundtrack of My Life
(11/23/08)

Welcome to my world—Jim Reeves
I was born into welcome arms.
When my parents first met each other, this song was playing.
And when they travelled to California, this song was playing there, too.
Coincidence? More like divine providence.

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme—Abba
When I was younger, I wanted everything NOW!
I still want everything, even now.
God, I'm one selfish bastard!

The Circle of Life—Elton John
My grandfather died the day before my sixth birthday.
I was talking to him on the phone that day.
He promised to be there on my birthday.
Somehow, I always got the feeling he was their looking over me.

A Fire I Can't Put Out—George Straight
I played with fire on the stovetop when I was seven.
And I burned the linoleum floor.
I can't believe I was that stupid!

Think Twice—Brook Benton
I also accidentally broke a $50.00 vase when a month later.
And I hurt myself doing it, too.
And I got grounded for a week.
Geez, I was Dennis the-freaking-menace when I was young!

1999—Prince
My best friend, Alan, moved away.
The last time I saw him was the last day of school.
It was too sad; he had to move away because his grandmother died.

Keep on Running—Tom Jones
Man, I ran my ass off in Mr. Robertus's class.
I swear, the guy was consciously trying to torture us in PE.
I couldn't even take a crap right after his class.

Don't Be Cruel—Elvis Presley
I was one cruel bastard when I was bored.
I got out a slingshot and shot pigeons and cats with it.
I shot them to keep them from pooping in the front yard.

Tragedy—Bee Gees
My friend, Carlo, died in a car accident last Thanksgiving.
When I visited his funeral, Chris (his brother) did the eulogy.
It was painful to hear his words.
I didn't have the guts to say anything, though.
All I could manage was a silent prayer.

Boy Don't Cry—The Cure
I loved riding on my scooter.
When I tried to jump a curb with it, I crashed and burned. BIG TIME!
I broke my nose and suffered cuts and bruises, but I took it like a man.

I've Been Away Too Long—George Baker
My parents want to go to the Philippines in the future.
I haven't been there since I was four.
I don't remember anything from that time.

The Longest Day—Paul Anka
The day before this year's Thanksgiving seemed like an eternity.
Especially when studying for a test the day before!
I freaking hate it when teachers do that, don't you?

(To be continued...)

A/N: I still listen to some of these songs, some more than others. And trust me, this is no bull. I went through all of this.
