9. Off to the Philippines
(12/2/08)

I am a man of constant anticipation.
I wonder if there is reincarnation or an afterlife.
I hear the waves crashing on some beach.
I see the rest of my extended family.
I want to get to Manilla.
I am a man of constant anticipation.

I am a man of constant anticipation.
I feel calm in the company of old faces.
I touch the green, green grass of rural life.
I worry only of little things.
I cry only at the sight of my grandfather's grave.
I am a man of constant anticipation.

I am a man of constant anticipation.
I say there is no time like the present.
I dream about visiting my godmother.
I try to remember the songs of Diomedes Matura.
I hope I'll always remember my family roots.
I am a man of constant anticipation.

(To be continued...)

A/N: More nostalgic fancies about the Philippines, the home of my mom and dad.
