A Poet's Progress
By Fox-Trot-930. Deadly Secret
(5/4/09)Many people have secrets:
I keep one ingrained in my conscience;
Yet I have nothing to do with my secret.
But the secret had everything to do with me.
I have no sin within the secret;
But the secret still carries sin within it for me.
This secret nearly killed my mother;
This secret nearly ended me before I even began.
This secret, I knew not till my parents told it to me.
When I first heard it, the secret haunted me for years.
This secret, I wish I could forget;
But this secret forever reminds me,
That when I'm alive others are dead.
Thus, from staying alive,
It remains a curse I carry with me;
But from staying alive,
I am reminded that I am the luckiest bastard alive.(To be continued...)
A/N: If you're wondering what that secret is, it's that I'm am one of 4 quadruplets. If you heard of twins and triplets, then quadruplets are almost unthinkable but they do happen. Still, I'm an only child, because all the others miscarried (and died); I'm the only one who didn't. When I think about that, I still can't get over how lucky I was.
