28. Compassionate
(4/4/09)

Compassionate is he who's thoughtful of others.
Compassionate is he who gives willingly and freely.
Compassionate is he whose love derives from the purity of the heart.
Compassionate is he whose light transcends mortality for divinity.
Compassionate is  he whose understanding knows no bounds.
Compassionate is he whose inner peace softens the callused heart.
Compassionate is he whose grace is untainted with want or greed.
Compassionate is he (my dad) who exemplifies all of the above.
Compassionate is she (my mom) whose love compels me to be more than myself.
Compassionate am I who shall pass on this divine trait to others.
For compassion eases worry in times of hardship.

(To be continued...)

A/N: This poem is just what it says. And it's a tribute to my parents for putting up with me and each other for so long. They've been married for 25 years, and if God wills it, may it last for 25 years more.
