29. 14 Years of Life
(4/4/09)

Of a life as ordinary as mine,
That life came from the decade of flashiness
And almost endless change.
From the deranged Penn and Teller duo
To that famed Lance Burton, their magic conveyed
The insanity and grandeur of show business.
From the majestic voice of Celine Dion
To the grating melody of those musical cell phones,
I still remember those two rule the radio from '93 to '09.
For Sienfeild and Geico, I revel
In such verbal and often ironic comedy, while I
Now deplore how I carelessly rocked to the head-banging
Crack-ups of Beavis and Butthead.
I, indeed, still remember how Titanic moved our hearts
And how scared I felt on that out-of-control
Quad-bike. I even know when Target ruled
The shopping scene, how bulky headphones were still in vogue,
And how Desperate Housewives first shocked television
Audiences. I even reminisce of the first walking robot
And of Oprah's explicitly sexual remarks.
Indeed, my lifetime was also the era of heavy
Make-up and flashy fashions, and also Spielberg
And Cruise who made Munich and The Last Samurai.
Yet most of all, my lifetime was the setting of the hating
Campaigns of Bush and Kerry—campaigns
Ingeniously portrayed by the Weekly Show.
Yes, I lived in a world of extremes,
Of which, fifty years from now, will still ring
Loud and clear—of which I am forever apart of.

(To be continued...)

A/N: Yep, I have a lot of memories here and many more I didn't include. Oh, and if you're wondering about the what the Weekly Show is, it's the school show that airs every Friday at my high school, Bonanza; during the Bush-Kerry campaigns, the Weekly Show did a hilarious caption of Bush and Kerry in a debate—I almost died from laughing so hard... It was priceless.
