Me and Harry could just see them both through hole in the wood. Draco stood poised, his wand in his hand, his eyes darting around.

"Who else is here? I heard you talking." He said.

"I often talk aloud to myself. I find it extraordinarily useful. That which sounds sane at a whisper can seem utterly mad when said for all the world to hear. Haven't been whispering to yourself, have you, Draco?" Dumbledore asked.

Draco looked uncomfortable.

"You are not an assassin, Draco." Dumbledore said.

"How do you know what I am? I've done things that would shock you." Draco replied.

"Like cursing Katie Bell and hoping she would, in turn, bear a cursed necklace to me? Like replacing a bottle of mead with one laced with poison. Forgive me, Draco, but these are attempts so feeble I cannot help but question if your heart has been really in them. I'm curious. When Voldemort gave you this task, when he asked you to kill me, was it in a whisper?" Dumbledore.

Harry and I looked at each other. I saw my hair turn a light green color.

"He trusts me! I was chosen!" Draco said and revealed his dark mark.

I opened my mouth in shock. A tear escaped my eye. Harry grabbed my shoulder and softly rubbed it.

"Then I shall make it easy for you." Dumbledore said and grabbed his wand.

"Expelliarumus!" Draco said.

Harry and I watched in horror. Tears were still escaping my eyes, but I didn't make a single sound.

"Well done, Draco. But I warn you. Killing is not nearly as easy." Dumbledore said.

A silence fell over the room.

"You're not alone. Are you. There are others. How?" Dumbledore asked.

"The Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement." Draco said.

"That cabinet has been broken for years." Dumbledore said.

"I've been mending it." Draco replied.

"Ingenious. Let me guess. It has a sister. A twin." Dumbledore said.

"In Borgin & Burkes. They form-"

"A passage, yes. Very good." Dumbledore finished his sentence.

Another silence fell over the room.

"I once knew a boy years ago who made all the wrong choices. Let me help you, Draco." Dumbledore said.

"I don't want your help! Don't you see! I have to do it! I have to kill you, or he's gonna kill me. She can't live without me." Draco said.

Harry gave me a look, I looked back at him as another tear rolled over my cheek.

Then we heard more footsteps.

"Well now, look what we have here. Well done, Draco." We heard Bellatrix Lestrange say.

"Good evening, Bellatrix. I think introductions are in order." Dumbledore said.

"Love to, Albus. But I'm afraid we're on a bit of a tight schedule." She replied.
"Do it." She said to Draco.

Draco's wand rises again. Then the door next to us opened. I quickly ducked behind the boxes again. Harry was still standing were he stood. I peeked around the corner to see my father. He looked at Harry and then went upstairs. I stood up next to Harry again.

"He doesn't have the stomach. Just like his father. Let me finish him. In my own way." Another death eater said. Seeing Draco's face when he said that made me sad. But the comment made me angry.

Harry looked at my eyes. "They're different colors." He whispered. "Once's blue, the other red."

"No! The Dark Lord was clear. The boy's to do it. Go on, Draco. Now!" Bellatrix yelled.

Once again Draco raised his wand, his hand was shaking.

Then we saw my father.

"Severus." Dumbledore said. A silence fell. "Please." He then said.

"Avada Kedavra!" My father then said. A flash of green light shot out of his wand and hit Dumbledore.

Harry's body tensed. He started breathing heavily. I grabbed him by his shoulders and tried to calm him down. He started crying now, too.

[a/n] i think i'm actually crying 🥲
