The next day Draco could finally leave the hospital. We were still absent for the day. We didn't want to bump into anyone in the common room, so we went to Draco's bedroom. That because mine was filled with Pansy's stuff.
He laid on his bed. We had barely slept at night in the hospital, because we slept during the day we weren't tired at night.
"Have you heard about Umbridge's new rule?" I asked, sitting on a chair on the other side of the room.
"No, what is it?" Draco asked.
"Any literature by non-wizards or half breeds is banned." I replied.
"So, no more muggle books?" He asked.
I shook my head, disappointed.
"She's the worst." Draco said.
"I can trust you, right?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"And you won't hate me?"
"I don't think so."
"I need to be honest with you." I said.
"What's wrong?" He asked and he sat up straight.
"Ok. So the trio asked me for a favor. They formed a huge group of people to teach real defense against the dark arts, not in the way Umbridge does it. Every week they come together and practice spells to actually defend themselves. So, they asked me if I could help them teach. I agreed, because I'm not taking DADA with Umbridge, but with my father. Anything I learn with him, I explain to them. I actually wasn't supposed to tell anyone, especially not you, but I don't want to lie to you." I explained.
He looked at me for a few seconds. "Thank you for being honest. I think it's great you're doing it. A little less great it's with Potter. But, I'm proud of you for doing it. Thank you for not lying, love." He said.
"Promise you won't tell anyone?"
"Promise."
"You're not mad?"
"No. I could never be mad at you."
"Draco Malfoy. You continue to surprise me, every day." I said.
I jumped next to him on the bed. He put his arms around me.
"I love you." I said.
"I love you more." He replied.
. . .
That evening I was back in my own dorm after two days. I walked in to find Pansy.
"Hey, you're alive." She said.
"Hello to you too." I replied.
"How's Draco?" She asked.
"He's fine. We're going back to the classes tomorrow." I replied.
"How are you?" She then asked.
"I'm fine, yeah." I replied.
"I slept here the past days. I hope you don't mind. Daphne just kept talking on and on and my ears were about to fall off." She said.
I laughed. "It's ok."
"Rumor has it you aren't taking Umbridge's class." She blurted out.
I shrugged. "I get defense against the dark arts from my father now. They didn't want me to attend Umbridge's class. I don't know why." I lied. It felt bad having to lie to her. But I knew that if I told her the truth, the whole school would know and then I'd probably have to return to Umbridge's class.
"Anyways, I'm tired. I'm gonna go and sleep." I said.
"Yeah, goodnight." Pansy said and gave me a quick hug before she headed out to her own dorm.
