The courtyard was empty, we walked inside of the entrance hall. Bodies where lined up. People where sitting, crying. I tried not to look. I looked at my feet as I walked through the hall.
"Y/n." I heard Blaise say.
I looked up. "Blaise..."
He noticed the tears on my face.
Pansy and Theo walked from behind him. "Y/n, what's wrong?" Pansy asked.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. Then a strong pair of arms around me, and then I smelt his cologne. He rubbed my back. Then I pulled away.
"My father..." I said but then sobbed even harder.
"Where is he? Your father." Draco asked.
"He's dead." I said.
I sobbed in his chest. I lost my father. I was almost convinced it couldn't get any worse.
"Oh, y/n." I heard Pansy say. She was the second person to pull me in for a hug.
. . .
"Harry Potter... is dead." Voldemort said as he walked onto the courtyard with all the death eaters.
"No. No!" Ginny yelled. I was standing next to Draco.
"Silence!" Voldemort yelled. "Stupid girl."
A silence fell. Draco and I exchanged a glance. He grabbed my hand.
"Harry Potter is dead! From this forth, you put your faith in me." Voldemort continued.
I noticed Draco's worried look. I squeezed his hand softly.
"Harry Potter is dead!" He yelled. All the death eaters started laughing. "And now is the time to declare yourself. Come forward and join us, or die."
"Draco." Lucius said.
Draco looked at me.
"Draco..." Narcissa said. "Come."
I started tearing up. "Go. Be safe." I whispered.
He looked at me for another few seconds. Then he let go of my hand. He walked away.
"Well done Draco. Well done." Voldemort said and hugged Draco.
He then walked to his mother. She whispered something in his ear. Then he looked at me.
Then a silence fell. Until Neville walked forward.
"Well I must say, I hoped for better." Voldemort said. The death eaters laughed again. "And who might you be, young man?"
"Neville Longbottom." Neville said. The death eaters laughed.
"Well, Neville. I'm sure we can find a place for you in our ranks." Voldemort said.
"I'd like to say something." Neville said.
"Well, Neville. I'm sure we'd all be fascinated to hear what you have to say." Voldemort said.
"It doesn't matter that Harry is gone." Neville started.
"Stand down, Neville!" A Gryffindor said.
"People die every day. Friends, family. Yes, we lost Harry tonight. But he's still with us, in here." He said, pointing at his heart. "And so is Remus and Tonks and... all of them. They didn't die in vain." He turned to Voldemort. "But you will. Because you're wrong. Harry's heart did beat for us. For all of us!" He reached into the sorting hat.
"This is not over!" He pulled the Sword of Gryffindor out of the hat. Then Harry jumped out of Hargid's arms.
"Potter!" Draco yelled as he ran forward, he threw a wand at Harry and then ran further.
I ran forward. When I was standing on the place where Neville stood only a few seconds ago, I scanned the people in front of me.
I held out my hands and fire spat out of them. I threw it a huge fireball at the death eaters. Most of them flew away, scared.
Then I ran to Draco, into his arms.
"I love you." I said and kissed him.
"I love you more." He said. "Now let's go and help the others."
We made our way to the Great Hall.
Bellatrix hit Ginny with a spell.
"Not my daughter, you bitch." Mrs Weasley said.
She threw a spell at Bellatrix. Bellatrix grinned and threw a spell back.
"Expelliarmus!" I yelled and Bellatrix's wand flew into my hand.
Mrs Weasley smiled, then she threw multiple spells at Bellatrix. Bellatrix froze and then, when Mrs Weasley threw the last spell, she died.
"Thank you, dear." Mrs Weasley said.
"No problem, Mrs Weasley." I said and smiled.
"Oh, dear. Call me Molly." She said.
I then made my way to Draco, who had just threw 3 death eaters back.
"Don't get mad." I said.
He chuckled. "Her wand is yours now. You disarmed her."
And suddenly, everything in my head clicked.
"Come with me." I said.
We ran through the halls. We stopped when I noticed Hermione and Ron.
"Where's Harry?" I asked.
"He's somewhere upstairs with Voldemort. Why? What's wrong?" Hermione asked.
"Well, the-"
"Err, I think we have a little problem." Ron said and he nodded at the snake that was coming our way.
We started running down the stairs. Draco grabbed my hand to make sure he wouldn't lose me.
We ran fast, but the snake was just as fast.
While me and Draco ran around a pile of stones and stuff, Ron and Hermione fell over it.
The snake was almost attacking then when suddenly Neville came out with the Sword of Gryffindor and hit the snake.
I ran back to Hermione and Ron and helped them up.
"Are you guys ok?" I asked.
"Yeah, thanks Neville." Ron said.
. . .
Later, the five of us were standing outside. Voldemort was dead, the death eaters were gone, the war was over.
"Why didn't it work for him? The Elder wand." Hermione asked.
"Because it answers to another." Harry said.
Ron and Hermione exchanged a glance.
"When he killed Snape, he thought the wand would become his. But the thing is, it never belonged to Snape." Harry explained.
"It was Draco who disarmed Dumbledore that night on the Astronomy Tower. From that moment on, the wand answered to him." I said.
Hermione looked at me. She raised her eyebrows. "Until the other night when you disarmed Draco." She said.
"But that means..." Ron said.
I nodded. "It answers to me. That's what I tried to tell you before the snake almost killed you."
"What do you reckon we should do with it?" Ron asked.
"We? It's hers." Hermione said.
"I'm just saying. That's the Elder Wand! It's the most powerful bloody wand in the world! With that, we could, we could..." Ron said.
Hermione raised her hand and Ron stopped talking.
I laughed.
