This book is about what happens when two very wounded people turn away from their "safe" lives and try to love. This chapter explores that.

I was talking to @Diablolita about the stress we cause our readers in wondering if our boys will make it. I'm just telling you right now that this Eren and Levi will be okay and together by the end of the story. But it will be hard and sometimes painful. No character deaths either. I have had a lot of trauma in my life, and I need happy endings.

Thank you for sticking with me. I love you all more than you'll ever know. ❤️ Mags

A month had passed since Levi and Eren began dating. The ease in which they slid into one another's lives was unbelievable. For two people so wounded, they fell into step without a glitch. It was a rare night that they didn't end up in either man's bed. Their friends no longer craned their necks to get a view of them holding hands. Eren was a pro at making tea and Levi made sure the boy had a packed breakfast before he left the next day.

The sex was so good it was mind numbing. He walked around topped off, not an ounce of frustration in his body. Their mutual climaxes were so potent, Levi often drifted into a deep sleep, which was really unfuckingbelievable. He slept when Eren moved about the apartment and it took a little effort to wake him. A lifetime of no sleep. No sex. No affection. He careened between the two ends of happiness and terror.

"Jesus fuck, you're amazing," Eren whispered, gulping in great gasps of air. Levi's body grew stiff beside him, and he turned to see the man's face. When Eren reached for his hand, Levi sat up and moved away quickly, mumbling something about the bathroom.

Something sped up in his heart and he ran through his most recent memories to see if he'd done or said something wrong. It was quite some time before Levi came back to the room. He stopped in the doorway and leaned against the frame. He looked long at Eren, biting his lip.

Eren attempted a smile. "What's going on inside of you?"

Levi stood there longer and just looked at Eren from across the room. His fingers were fidgety and his neck flushed. He opened his mouth and closed it again.

Already preparing himself for the worst, Eren leaned forward and put his hand out. "Please come sit down." When Levi slowly took his hand, Eren said, "Whatever it is, we can manage it."

The air seemed to rush out of the man, and he took a seat across the bed, his body twisted towards him. "Eren..." He shook his head. "Why is this so fucking hard?"

His eyes wide, Eren pulled his hand back to his chest, covering his throat with his fingers. He stammered, looking down. "Are you breaking up with me?"

Levi's head flew up, his eyes panicked. "No!" He scooted quickly across the bed and took Eren's hand back. "No, Eren. It's just that I need to talk to you about something that's bothering me, but I don't know how to talk about it without hurting your feelings." He frowned. "I'm shit at this."

Eren's heart hammered in his chest. Vacillating between relief and dread, he took a deep breath. "Okay. Um, do you want to talk about it now?" He put his hand on Levi's cheek. "I'll try my best to be open-minded."

"Sure," Levi said. "Can we go in the living room...maybe get some water." As he spoke he put his underwear on. He handed Eren his and waited for the man to get dressed. Taking his hand, Levi led him to the couch.
