Broken But Strong

"Here today we have American Idol's and Texas local...Payton Vaughns!" The host announces. "Hi!" Payton smiles. "How are you?" The host asks. "I'm doing pretty good! I leave today so that's kinda...you know sinking in." Payton laughs. "So you made it to the top 6 and you get to go on tour!" The host smiles. "Yay! Haha I do. Its gonna be fun." Payton smiles. "Have you ever been on tour before?" The host asks. "No. Not all. First time, gonna be so much fun and I'm so excited." Payton smiles. "Can I just ask something real quick?" The host looks at Payton. "Yea sure!" Payton smiles. "How are you and Daniel?" The host asks and Payton laughs. "We are doing great!" Payton smiles. "He gonna be at the finale so that's exciting." Payton laughs. "Didn't he surprise you on the show one week?" The host asks. "He did! He's so sweet." Payton smiles. Payton looks behind her and sees picture of her and Daniel. She blushes and turns back to the host. "Enough about Daniel." The host laughs. "What's it like being so young and you made it to the top 6?" The host asks. "It feels unreal. You know. Like I'm so young and I've been told I've got a powerful voice. Being able to share my voice to the world out there is life changing. Because so many people look up to me and see me as this american pop singer. I get to inspire people because of my age and my voice." Payton smiles.
"Last weeks show, you performed two Empire songs. And you got very emotional." The host brings up. "I did. And I did for a good reason. That's because both of those songs mean so much to me and I can relate to the singers knowing that they have been going through hard times." Payton answers.
"Every week, a contestant leaves. Thoughts about that? How do you react to that?" The host asks. "To be honest, it's heartbreaking. Because we all grown so close together, we are like family. We started from, oh who are these people I don't know them, to loving them and looking up to them. Seeing each person leave, it's very hard." Payton explains
She finishes her interview and Trevor picks her up to go to his school.

Everyone was back in LA and Payton was on the phone with Daniel. Jax was scrolling through her Twitter until she saw the picture of Daniel and Jess. She had a confused look on her face and looked at Payton who's smiling on the phone. Jax looks back at her phone and scrolls her timeline. It's blowing up with the picture. "Did you see the picture?" Jax got a text from Rayvon. "I just saw it. Should we tell her?" Jax texts back. "She can't live on a lie the rest of her life." Rayvon texts back. Jax sighs and looks at the picture of Daniel and that girl kissing. Jax stands up and stands in front of Payton. "Can we talk?"' Jax whispers. "Hey Daniel I'm gonna have to go." Payton laughs. "Alright. Love you too." Payton says and hangs up. "What's up?" Payton stands up and walks over to Jax. "Have you been on Twitter at all today?" Jax asks. "No why?" Payton asks. "You might wanna check." Jax says with a disappointed look. "Alright...." Payton says confused and pulls up Twitter on her phone. She scrolls through her timeline and sees the picture of Daniel and Jess kissing tweet after tweet. "wait....." Payton clicks on the picture. "Is that....Daniel?" Payton looks up at Jax. Jax doesn't say anything but sighs. "This can't be right." Payton laughs. "It's him." Jax says. "Why would he do that?" Payton looks at the picture. "I don't know." Jax says. Payton closes her phone and throws it at the wall with tears in her eyes. "I need to go." Payton says storming out the room leaving Jax. Jax pulls out her phone and calls Daniel.
"Hey Jax!" Daniel answers
"Hey...uh. So um just gonna say it. Payton found out about that picture." Jax tells Daniel.
Daniel just sighs. "I knew that would happen. Look Jax, that kiss meant nothing. She kissed me!" Daniel says.
"Daniel, doesn't look that way." Jax says.
"Jax I swear! That girl has been at me since I got back to school!" Daniel says. "Her friend took that picture and she posted it. It meant nothing." Daniel continues. "Why didn't you tell her?" Jax asks. "I don't know it's stupid of me not to." Daniel says. "Where is she now?" Daniel asks. "Well she threw her phone and walked out." Jax answers. "What did I do?" Daniel says to himself. "Jax, I swear, SHE kissed me. It meant absolutely nothing to me." Daniel says. "Look, I think you need to give her some space. She's been going through a lot now." Jax says. "Please tell her I'm sorry." Daniel says. Jax doesn't say anything but hang up. Jax puts her phone away and walks over to Payton's phone by the wall. She picks it up and sees a crack. Jax walks to Rayvon's and Clark's room. "Hey Jax...." Nick answers. "Hey! Have you guys seen Payton?" Jax asks. "No..how's she holding up?" Clark asks. "Well...." Jax pulls out Payton's cracked phone. "Dang...we should find her." Rayvon says.
After about 30 minutes looking for Payton in the hotel, they decided to go walk to the beach to see if she's there. "Guys is that her?" Clark looks over to someone sitting in the sand by the water with its head down. "Yea it is." Jax says and they all walk over to Payton. She's looking down at the dog tag with her and Daniel on it. They all sit around Payton but she doesn't look up. "This was a mistake." Payton says still looking down. "Payton..I called Daniel and that kiss meant nothing to him." Jax tell her. "Then why would he do it?" Jax looks up with red eyes. "She kissed him." Jax says. "Jess." Payton says with anger in her eyes. "Who?" Nick asks. "Some girl who's hitting on him because he's famous now." Payton rolls her eyes. "But why wouldn't he tell me right away?" Payton looks at Clark. "Hey, he's a boy. He doesn't know what to think." Clark says. "I don't know what to do now." Payton says. "Hey, just focus on this right now and don't worry about him ok?" Rayvon puts his hand on Payton's shoulder. "Thanks guys." Payton smiles and hugs them. They head back to the hotel and went in their separate rooms. "I think this is yours." Jax gives Payton her cracked phone. "Great. A broken heart and now a broken phone." Payton laughs and turns it on. "At least it still works." Payton says and opens the Twitter app. She scrolls through her mentions and timeline.
"Did Daniel seriously cheat on Payton?!"
"Oh no."
"Daniel James Seavey!"
All these tweets with the picture made Payton tear up. Then she sees a tweet from Daniel.
"This means nothing to me. I love Payton and I always will. She's the only person I care about I would do nothing to hurt her." Payton reads. She sighs and turns off her phone.
"She kissed me."
"That meant nothing to me."
"Payton I'm sorry."
"I love you and I would never hurt you."
Payton sees those texts from Daniel and missed calls. She takes off her necklaces and puts them in her suitcase along with the hoodie. "You ok?" Jax walks up to Payton. "I rather not talk about it. I just wanna get to rehearsals and get my mind off it." Payton says.
"Alright. I'm sorry." Jax hugs Payton. "Thanks Jax for telling me and everything." Payton smiles. They all go to rehearsals and Payton seems better and focuses on the competition. "Hey the judges want to see you." Clark walks to Payton. "They're here?" Payton asks. "Yea they wanted to talk to you." Clark says. "You're not in trouble they just wanna see you." Clark says. "Alright, thanks." Payton smiles and walks backstage where the judges are.
"Hi." Payton smiles and hugs the judges. "Hi sweetie. How are you doing?" JLo hugs her. "I'm doing alright." Payton slightly laughs. "That's good. I'm sorry to hear what happened." Keith tells Payton. "Oh don't worry about." Payton gives a small smile. "Well we came to tell you that don't let something like this affect your performance this week." Harry says. "I promise. I'm fighting through this. I even forgot that this happened." Payton laughs. "You are a strong girl and I know you can. You have been doing great." Harry smiles. "Thank you so much." Payton smiles. "Sorry again this happened. Just focus on this week and don't worry about Daniel." Keith tells Payton. "Thanks so much." Payton smiles. "Alright, bye bye sweetie sorry again." JLo hugs Payton. "Thank you again guys." Payton smiles and heads back stage to rehearse. Payton finishes her rehearsal and doesn't think about the whole Daniel and Jess thing. She doesn't want it to affect the competition.
