The Auditions

It was the day of the auditions for Daniel and Payton in San Fransisco, California. They fill out their forms and wait for their number to be called. They spot each other across the room. They just look at each other and look away. Ryan walked into the room and called Daniel first.
Daniel walks over to Ryan with his parents and passes Payton. He gets to the door where it leads to the audition room. Daniel finally went in.
"Hey Hey!" Keith greets Daniel
"Hello!" Daniel walks over to the center.
"How you doing?" Keith asks
"Good! How are you?" Daniel stops over at the piano
"Really good! What's your name?" Keith asks.
"I'm Daniel Seavey" Daniel smiles
"Daniel, how old are you?" Keith asks.
"15." Daniel says
"You're 15?" Keith says in shock
"Yea." Daniel smiles
"When did you turn 15?" Keith asks more questions
"2 months ago." Daniel smiles
"Good gravy man." Keith says. "So you play guitar. You play piano too?" Keith points to the piano.
"Yea" Daniel says with a nervous smile
"What else do you play?" Keith asks
"Cello, recorder, saxophone, drums. Violin, viola...bass."
JLo laughs. "You cut to like a hour from now. You know, the crumhorn." Harry jokingly says.
JLo and Keith laughs. "The what horn?" Keith asks confused. "The crumhorn." Jlo says. "It's like a bassoon in a can." Harry explains. "I've never heard of that." Keith says. "And the triangle." Jlo laughs.
"So what are you gonna sing today?" Keith asks getting back on topic.
"I'm gonna be doing Hallelujah on piano." Daniel says walks over to the piano.
"The time it took for them to make my latte and bring it to me, is more time than he's been alive." Harry jokes and points to Daniel. Daniel smiles and starts playing and singing while the judges watch him.
"His voice is just broken." Keith tells JLo in the middle of Daniels audition. "It feels like it's breaking." JLo says back.
Daniel finishes his audition. "Alright sweet." Keith smiles. Daniel stands up. "Can we hear something on the guitar?" Keith points to Daniels guitar. "Yea." Daniel says picking up his guitar and putting it on his shoulder. He starts playing and sings Straight Up.
Daniel finishes and Keith laughs. "Alright..." Keith looks down and sighs. "Good lord." Keith says. "So you've been singing for a long time?" Keith asks. "Yea." Daniel smiles. "Did your voice use to be higher?" Keith asks. "Yea." Daniel answers. "Is it broken, is it breaking?" Keith asks. "And are you working with anyone to work through that break? Are you just dropping the keys to the song? What's..tell me what's happening?" Keith looks at Daniel. "Yea, I've talked to a couple people about the break and they said, best thing to do is just sing it where you have it and if it's too high just lower it a couple steps till it fits." Daniel explains. "I feel like you're a little bit nervous..." Jlo starts to say. "But I think that you have a really beautiful voice in there." JLo says. "I do." Jlo smiles. "And I saw it in just glimpses of this audition." JLo says. "Obviously you are very musically talented, it's just kinda of blossoming and coming out of the nerves and really giving us an amazing performance. It wasn't complete." Jlo explains. "There's a lot of things that go into somebody being on American Idol.." Harry starts to say. "You have a lot of those things. You're a handsome young man, you're very talented. But, because of your age, you don't have the maturity..yet." Harry explains. "Will you? Absolutely. Do you have it right now? The honest answer is no." Harry looks at Daniel. "It's gonna be a no today I'm sorry." Harry breaks the news. Daniel nods not smiling. "What are you gonna vote Keith?" Harry asks Keith. Daniel looks over a Keith. Keith looks at Daniel and sighs. "You know, the interesting thing about Hollywood week, is Hollywood week is where everybody comes back, and they sing again." Keith starts to say. "And sometimes, people that we pick, we pick because there's something very special. And sometimes we need to see how it stacks up against everybody else." Keith explains and Daniel smiles. "I'm gonna say yes." Keith smiles. Daniel smiles and looks over at JLo. "You are talented..And you are adorable." JLo starts to say. "I'm very on the fence about you." JLo says. Daniel looks at her and JLo looks at Daniel and they wait for a moment.
Daniel walks out to Ryan and his parents. Daniel looks down and his dad is upset. But, Daniel took out the yellow Hollywood slip and this parents jump up and down.
Daniel runs out to the waiting room and jumps up and down with his yellow ticket. Everyone spots him and claps.

After a couple people after Daniel, Payton was called. Payton's parents weren't there with her so she was there with two of her friends. Her and her friends follow Ryan to the auditon room. Payton's friends wish her luck and she walks in.
"Hi baby." JLo smiles.
"Hello!" Payton smiles.
"Hi! What's your name?" Keith asks.
"Payton Vaughns." Payton says.
"Beautiful name." JLo smiles.
"Thank you!" Payton smiles and blushes.
"Payton how old are you?" Harry asks.
"I just turned 15 2 months ago." Payton smiles.
"We have another 15 year old?" Harry laughs.
"I guess" Payton laughs.
"That's funny, we just had a 15 year old who turned 15 2 month ago as well." Keith laughs. "Do you play guitar?" Keith asks.
"Yes I do." Payton smiles.
"Do you play any other instruments?" Keith asks.
"Piano and drums." Payton says.
"That's cool. So what are you gonna be singing?" Harry asks.
"I'm gonna be singing The Weight by Shawn Mendes." Payton smiles.
"Alright let's hear it." Keith smiles. Payton starts playing and finishes.
"That was good." Keith looks at Payton. "Thank you." Payton smiles. "Have you had any voice lessons before?" Keith asks. "I have actually. I started in 6th grade and I've done it ever since." Payton explains. "Well I asked because, you have a powerful voice at such a young age." Keith says. "Thank you!" Payton smiles. "When did you start to sing?" JLo asks. "Ever since I was little." Payton laughs. "Have you been in like the school choir or something like that?" Keith asks. "I have actually. I started in the beginning of middle school in 6th grade and that's when I started my voice lessons. And I also did in 7th grade and then I actually quit in 8th grade but I still did lessons. But then I started back this year." Payton explains. "Wow. Why did you quit in 8th grade?" Harry asks. "Well because I was a very insecure person last year and I felt like I wasn't as good as the other people in there." Payton explains. "Did you do anything else during that time? Like any sports or something?" Keith asks. "I still did my voice lessons and I also played football." Payton smiles. "Football?! Like girl football?" JLo asks. "No actually. I was the only girl on the team." Payton laughs. "That's really cool." Keith smiles. "Thank you." Payton smiles. "Ok let's vote." Keith says. "Payton, you are very talented, you have such a powerful voice. I feel like you're at the age when your voice starts to change, and I said something like this to the other 15 year old that came in..." Harry starts to say. "But I feel that you are eligible to control that because it's pretty clear that you can control your vocal range." Harry says. "Mhm." Payton nods. "You did seem nervous about it but now you seem pretty confident after your performance. So if you just learn to become confident, before the performance, you'll do great. So I'm gonna say yes." Harry smiles. "Thank you!" Payton smiles. "I like you. You remind me a lot of Daniel, the other 15 year old. You guys are both adorable and talented but you are learning to still come out of your comfort zone." JLo starts to say. "But, you are good enough to be able to come out of your shell and rule the stage." JLo smiles. "So I'm gonna say yes!" JLo smiles. "Thank you so much!" Payton laughs and looks over at Keith. "You have a mind blowing voice, your stage presence is fantastic as well." Keith says. "I know you will do well on American idol.." Keith smiles. "Soo..here you go!" Keith pulls out a yellow Hollywood slip. "Oh my gosh thank you so much!" Payton smiles. She walks over to Keith and gets her ticket. "Thank you guys!" Payton shakes their hands. "Good luck beautiful." JLo smiles. Payton walks out and puts her ticket in her back pocket to prank Ryan and her friends. She opens the door and sees her friends eagerly waiting. "I didn't make it." Payton says. Her friends felt bad and Payton walked turned to Ryan reveling the ticket to her friends. Her friends laugh and jump and Ryan and Payton laugh. She hugs her friends and runs to the waiting room to reveal her ticket. Everyone claps and walks out with her friends.

This is was then the start of something new for Daniel and Payton.
