Mayas POV

It's Thursday night and Andy is over for dinner, I cooked and now we're sitting at the table

"It's wrong, it's so wrong" I tell her, tomorrow is the day I told Carina we would talk if she behaved in my class all week

Surprisingly she has, she's been on time, no snarky comments, she's done the work. All of it

"Yes, but who cares, she's only in your class the rest of the year then they can't do anything" she tells me and I nod

"What if it complicates things in class? I can't have that. Not with the other students" I sigh

"Tell her that. And Maya, I'm pretty sure she doesn't want you because of special treatment. Not in class anyway" she smirks and I roll my eyes and throw a napkin at her

"You're ridiculous! I don't even know why I am friends with you" I scoff and she laughs

"Yea whatever" she smiles

"What's the worse that can happen?" She ask

"I lose my job, my reputation, I become broke and have to move in with you" I say

"See? Not bad" she says and I smile

"I don't know Maya, you have my support for whatever you choose to do, but don't lead the poor girl on," she tells me and I nod

"Yea.... I know"

The next morning when I got to class I didn't really want to talk to Carina today, I wanted her. I wanted her badly but, it's not right

She came to class on time again, which the teacher part of me was happy but the personal part wasn't

She sat in her seat and took notes, she didn't make any comments and actually kept quiet

When class dismissed she waited until everyone left and came up to my desk

"I was good all week" she says and I smile, I was happy she was so proud of herself

"You were, thank you" I smile and she frowns a little

"We can't talk now, you have class. You are welcome to come back after school" I say and she rolls her eyes

"Fine whatever" she scoffs and walks out

I know I disappointed her, she wanted a clear answer then and I didn't have it

The day ended way too soon for my liking and soon enough Carina was walking into my classroom and sat quietly at her seat

I know she was still trying to be good, and being patient is part of that

I responded to an email from another English professor and walked over and sat next to Carina

"I don't think this will work" I tell her and she frowns

"Why? I was good" she says confused and I nod

"You were. I'm so proud of you" I tell her and she looks at me, I could tell she was trying to go back to the hard layer she has but couldn't

"Then why not?" She ask and I sigh

"Despite the student and teacher relationship...... I won't be unprofessional in school, and I know you know that" I say and she nods while listening to me

"Meaning, other than some days after school, weekends would be the time we could spend together but you work," I say and before I can continue she interrupted me
