CHAPTER SIXTEEN

SCARLETT

After Andrew and I left the mall, he dropped me off at home and continued to his home. I saw a sleek black Audi parked in the driveway, which I knew belonged to Kai. I sighed and continued into the house. I met Gwen in the living room mopping the floors, who told me that Kai insisted on waiting for me in my room. I nodded and decided to gulp down a glass of chilled water before heading upstairs.

I met him lying with his back on my bed as he scrolled through his iPad. He looked up when I opened the door and smiled.

"You sh-should have c-called" I spoke and closed my door lightly.

"Pardon?"

I sighed and dropped my purse on the sofa opposite my bed before repeating myself and joining him. I knew he was going to pull me to himself, so I stayed at the edge.

"I wanted to surprise you." He spoke. "What? No kiss for me?"

I was angry with him and didn't even want to hug him, let alone kiss him. I wanted to know why he lied to me. Everyone was always talking about being confident, and I figured it was my moment to shine. I almost asked him why he lied to me about being in his art studio, but as usual, the shy insecure part of me won, so I kept my mouth shut and placed a kiss on his lips, which he deepened and pulled me closer, so I was straddling him.

"Where did you go?" He whispered against my lips.

"The mall, with Andrew."

He rose an eyebrow. "That is why you didn't pick my call... You two are becoming quite close."

"He is a great friend. I didn't hear my phone ring" I whispered.

"I know, and he may be my best friend, but I will kill him if he tries to take my girl." He pressed his lips to mine again and trailed his hands from my back down to my thighs and back up till they rested close to my butts under my dress.

I shivered and stuttered. "I-I'm n-not officially yours."

Kai chuckled and kissed me again. "And I want to change that."

He sat up with me still on his lap and my eyes widened at the implication of his words. He picked up a small pink box that was on the nightstand that I had not seen sitting there. He placed the box in my hand and gave me a sheepish smile.

"I lied about being in the art studio. I went to the mall to pick this up for you. Open it."

I breathed in involuntarily and opened the box to see a beautiful, customized, AZuxe charm bracelet which was Azalea's jewellery brand. It had ruby and diamond hearts dangling from it. One silver-coloured charm which read, 'K+S', dangled from it. I exhaled and stared in awe at the beautiful gift. It was gorgeous.

"Kai..." I whispered.

"The ruby hearts represent you and the diamond hearts represent me." He whispered. "I want you to officially be my girlfriend." He spoke.

I looked up from the bracelet and stared into his captivating blue eyes. He smiled a very confident smile like he knew my obvious answer. I had long forgotten, after seeing the bracelet, that I saw him talking to Susan. But then, he probably only ran into her when he was picking up my gorgeous bracelet.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked.

I nodded and leaned forward to give him a kiss which he eagerly returned. But then he moved back slightly and whispered against my lips, "Use your words, baby."
