CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

SCARLETT

I got home just after the Walshs and Gemini had had Christmas brunch. I was glad that I missed it. When I entered, they were on their way to the tennis court at the back of the house for a friendly match. Cole wanted me to join, mainly because he wanted me to get closer to his parents. I was not interested.

They had done so much for me and I spent a lot of their money, but it was still difficult for me to come to terms with the fact that they let me grow up in an orphanage whilst they adopted my brother. I had not told Cole about it because he loved them. He thought I was still shy of them and it was better that he thought that. He resented them at first for not adopting me, but that hatred dwindled within a week when they explained to him that I would be comfortable in the orphanage and that I could visit him from time to time. Plus, they treated him like they conceived him themselves.

I declined his offer and went to my room.

Andrew called me as soon as I shut my door and I picked up on the second ring.

"Home now?" He asked.

"Yeah." I replied. I sat on my sofa and relaxed into it.

"What is going on between you and Kai."

"Did he tell you guys what happened?"

"Partially."

"S-s- y-you understand wh-why I won't cave."

"I do. But, he won't either. He loves you. I know he does-"

"He doesn't. He wants a puppet." The tears I had been holding back finally filled my eyes and poured down my face. "You kn-know I-I'm disappointed that h-he didn't tell m-me about his children, but if h- he had used a better excuse like the fact that 2 months is too early to tell me about his children, I would have understood. B-But to tell me that he didn't think it was n-necessary because I'm just his girlfriend, that is cold. And then he tried to use our relationship to get me to submit to him."

"I'm not defending him, but your type of relationship is more than sexual to Kai. His definition of being your dominant applies to everything."

"I know that, we spoke-"

"I don't think you do." He replied lightly.

I sighed and shut my eyes.

"I can't understand Kai. No one understands Kai except Savannah and Azalea, and maybe his parents. At the beginning of your relationship it was too early for him to disclose this to you if he didn't want to... but he was wrong for explaining it the way he did. I think 2 months is the right amount of time for you to know, and he did tell you eventually, he could have lied about it or just continued to hide it. Maybe you can cut him some slack for not telling you earlier on. You should talk to him about the way he talks to you though. Let him know that you don't appreciate it. He hasn't had a girlfriend before, he's used to treating all his girls exactly how a submissive should be treated and it may take some time for him to find a balance."

"You seem to understand him perfectly well." I scoffed.

"Scar, as I said, I am not defending him, but I am letting you know the kind of guy you decided to give yourself to. If you want to go on with this relationship, then by all means do, I will be more than glad because I think you guys are great for  each other. He has to learn how to be with you according to your personality and that is something I would let him understand, but I wanted to speak to you first to make sure your mind is not lost in assumptions. After you guys get through this, you can set rules for your relationships. This is what relationships are about. Love, trust, communication, compromise. I love you, you know I do, but this is what you set yourself up for and I will tell you as it is."
