CHAPTER NINETEEN
SAVANNAH
It had been a whole two weeks since I had heard from Cole, and I got the message loud and clear. We were done with each other. He was not in for the fun, which was okay, but if he wanted to be in a relationship with me, he had to fight for me, right? Not that I wanted him to. I meant everything that I told him. But it would have been nice to know that I was worth fighting for. If I mattered to him, he should have blasted my phone with calls and messages, but I got neither. Once again, he proved to me that I was just another option, not a definite choice.
The first thing I had done after I had left his apartment was to look for someone else to shag. I had still been seeing other guys when I was still sleeping with Cole. The only difference was that I did not make him wear a condom, but I made the others. He was safer, far better in bed than they were in my opinion, and he was the best that I had had or one of the best, but he hadn't always been available, and I wasn't one to wait. Granted, I felt bad after I left his apartment because I felt as though I had lost something important, but I was used to it, so I suck it up and told myself that it wasn't the end of the world. There were a bazillion hot guys in New York.
"Call me." One of my latest conquests said with a wink as I took my car keys from his dressing table. He was a married lawyer that I had met at an exclusive club the night before. He was from Egypt and was in New York for a meeting with the parent law firm where he worked. It was a school night, but I didn't have a dance rehearsal and my sister never stopped me from going out on a school night.
"Yeah, don't count on it" I muttered and walked out. I quickly put on my coat and tried to cover the hickey on my chest with the collar, but it did not work. I cursed and let my hair down from its high ponytail to cover it up. It was better.
I walked briskly through the corridors of the hotel to get to my car and hurry home since it was getting late. It was the first time that I had been sexually satisfied since I left Cole's room and I could finally catch up on my much-needed sleep. I found it hard to sleep when I was seriously turned on.
When I was alone in the elevator, I tried to make myself look presentable before I got to the lobby where it was likely that I would meet someone that I knew. I knew that a lot of people knew about my extracurricular activities, but I didn't want to outwardly show it to them.
As soon as I got off the elevator, my phone began to ring, and I dug my hand through my purse as I searched for it. I was sure that it was either Azalea or my sister calling to find out if I was coming home. As soon as I took it out and saw Azalea's name, I bumped into someone from behind before I could answer the call.
I looked up quickly to see a tall man with broad shoulders and thick black hair. He turned immediately to find out who had bumped into him. My breathing ceased when I realised that it was Cole.
His eyes widened when he realised that I was the one.
We stared at each other like we were in some stupid novella before his companion cleared her throat to get our attention. He was with two people; a beautiful dark-skinned lady whom I knew was his best friend from England whom I had never met, and a Caucasian man with blonde hair, whom I had slept with about two years before. I didn't remember his name, but I knew it started with an A, and he was the son of a politician.
Before I could apologize for bumping into him, the blonde-haired guy touched my arm and grinned.
"Savannah Harper." He started. "It has been ages."
I cursed under my breath. I wouldn't have minded meeting him on any other day, but it bothered me that at that moment it was in front of Cole.
"It's Alvin. Alvin Black." He reminded.
