--Chapter 12~ Missing Friends --

(Time Lapse: A Few Days Later)

Tris' Pov

I just finished lunch and I'm not sitting on a chain in the kitchen flipping through a magazine Chris accidently left the other day.

Each page of the magazine is filled with dresses. Sparkly dresses, colorful dresses, short dresses, long dresses, casual dresses, fancy dresses, dresses, dresses, dresses. It's absolutely putrid. Not my type of magazine. At all.

On certain pages Christina has circled certain dresses and shoes with a sparkly, purple marker. Dresses that she thinks would look nice in Shauna and Zeke's wedding.

Shauna has given Marlene, Christina, and I the responsibility of finding our own bridesmaid dresses. We all have to agree on the same dress and Shauna has to approved it, but other than that we have free range of what to choose.

Lynn is going to be the maid-of-honor. At least that's the plan, anyway.

She still hasn't been around lately. Two days ago, for basically the first time in forever, she actually stayed at the Dauntless compound the entire day.

Shauna was right, whenever any of us would ask Lynn where she's been, she just answers by saying she was doing work or that she just forgot to see us or something.

Tobias is currently at Zeke's apartment along with Will and Uriah. Some movie that the guys are all obsessed with finally came out on DVD, so Uriah went out really early to get it. They're watching the movie again now, even though they all saw it twice in theaters. They're insane.

I hear a set of knocks coming from the door of Tobias' apartment. I figure it's just Christina coming over to have coffee or discuss the latest fashion trent or something else stupid.

I stand up and go answer the door. Shauna stands on the other side, shaking. She has dark circles under her eyes and looks as if she hasn't slept in days.

"Come in," I say, leading her into the apartment. "What's wrong?"

Shauna walks into the living room and sits on the couch, careful not to mess up any of the pillows, even though I wouldn't care.

"Shauna, what's wrong?" I ask again. I've never seen her like this.

"Lynn didn't even come home last night. Usually she leaves really early in the morning and comes home really late, but she didn't even come home. I'm really worried about her." Shauna says frantically.

"Did you try texting or calling her?" I ask.

"Yeah, of course, multiple times," Shauna answers. "I don't know where she is. She keeps saying that she's in other parts of the compound, but if that was true don't you think at least one of us would have run into her or something?"

Shauna is freaking out, which I honestly can't blame her for. If Caleb had ever gone missing, even now after he's basically betrayed us all, I'd probably act the same way. Especially if they were my younger sibling. I'd feel like I wasn't doing a good job watching over them or something.

Just as Shauna is freaking out, her phone dings.

Shauna, where I am is none of your business. I'm old enough to take care of myself, so back off! -Lynn

"God, can't she see that I'm worried about her? I'm not trying to hastle her or anything, but I don't want to see her get hurt." Shauna says, running her fingers through her hair.

"I do work in the control room, you know." I say, finally thinking of a possible solution.

"Yeah, so?" she asks, clearly confused.
