-Chapter 16~ Gender Reveal -

Tris' Pov

Today is the day where Lynn finds out what gender her baby is. She has invited all of us girls to come along to her ultrasound with her. Sadly only Shauna and I were available, everyone else had work, so it's just going to be the two of us, along with Al, joining Lynn.

Tobias has also informed me that tonight, after the ultrasound, he's going to be taking me on a date. It's been a while since the last time just the two of us have gone on a date, so I'm looking forward to it.

Once I'm finished getting dressed I walk into the living room. Tobias has already left for work so it's my job to lock up. I walk over to the coffee table and grab my phone and house keys, leaving the apartment.

I head down to the Dauntless hospital where Shauna and Lynn apparently are. When I get to the hospital I walk into the waiting room where I see the two of them; Shauna flipping through a magazine and Lynn lazily watching the TV that sits directly across from her.

"Hey, guys." I say greeting them.

"Hey, Tris." Shauna calls back.

I sit down on the empty seat next to Shauna and feel my phone go off in my pocket. I pull my phone out and look at the screen.

Meet me at the train tracks at 6:00 tonight- Tobias

I text him back a quick 'Okay, can't wait' and then place my phone back into my pocket.

"The doctor should be calling us within a few minutes," Lynn says. "I hope Al gets here on time."

"Don't worry, I'm sure he will." Shauna says reassuringly.

Just like that, as if Shauna casted some magic spell, Al walks into the waiting room. He looks around the room and, once he spots us, head over to where we are sitting.

It's still slightly awkward around Al still, but for the most park we've made peace. Luckily I've only seen him once since his 'death' and we were surrounded by a group of friends when I saw him. I still have yet to have a conversation with him one-on-one, but I'm honestly dreading the day that happens.

"Hey, babe." he says, walking over to Lynn and giving her a quick peck. Shauna seems to slightly cringe. I'm not sure if she isn't comfortable around Al or if it's just awkward seeing her baby sister pregnant and kiss someone. Probably a bit of both.

He takes a seat next to Lynn and instantly gets lost in a conversation with her.

"I'm surprised he was able to visit Dauntless." I admit to Shauna once I'm sure the other two won't hear me.

"Members of other factions are aloud to visit sometimes. They usually just have to leave before 8:00 or something." She explains.

"Yeah, but Al isn't even technically a member of another faction."

"They didn't do a background check on him or anything, so they probably don't know that."

"Yeah," I admit. "You're probably right."

I grab a magazine from the table next to me and start flipping through it. The magazine features different healthy recipes and home remedies. I'm guessing this is an Amity magazine, or possible an Erudite. It's defiantly not Dauntless since most people here wouldn't give two shits about recipes for pomegranate tea.

"Lynn." I hear the doctor say after a few minutes.

We all stand up and follow the doctor down a hallway and into a small room.

Once we enter the room the doctor closes the door. Lynn climbs onto a hospital bed/ table. Al sits in a chair next to her while Shauna and I awkwardly stand in the corner.

"I'm Doctor Sweets," the doctor explains. "Today I'm just going to be making sure you're baby is doing okay and, if you want to know, revealing the sex of your child."

The doctor walks over to Lynn and rubs some gel on her stomach. He then grabs a transducer and brings it over her stomach.

You can hear the noise of the baby's heartbeat coming through the large machine. I picture of the inside of her stomach also appears on the screen.

"The baby's heartbeat is nice and it's in the right growth state." Doctor Sweets says.

"That's good." Lynn says, looking a bit relieved.

"Your baby is completely healthy and seems to be growing perfectly. " he continues.

The doctor continues moving the transducer around Lynn's stomach and looking at the screen.

"If you would like," Doctor Sweets says after about a minute. "I could tell you the sex now."

"That'd be great." Lynn says.

"Yeah," Al agrees. "It's frankly getting quite annoying not being able to pick out a name or buy that many things for the baby."

"You guys are going to be having," The Doctor says. " a boy."

Lynn and Al both look extremely happy. I'm pretty sure that's what they wanted it to be anyway.

-

"I'm glad Lynn is having a boy," Shauna says. She and I are currently walking down to the cafeteria to grab lunch. "I think she's going to do better raising a boy then a girl."

"Yeah," I agree. "Chris may be pissed though that she can't dress the child in dresses and put bows in their hair."

"Well, Chris is going to have to get over that I guess." Shauna says.

We walk in a comfortable silence into the cafeteria. We find a table get some food.

"I think Al's going to be a good father." She says once we're eating.

"Me too," I admit. "He seems to really care about her."

"It's going to be difficult with Al being factionless, though."

"Yeah, i'd be much easier if they were living together. At least he'll be able to visit daily, though."

"I'm sure they'll figure a way to work it out," Shauna says. "They always do."

-----------

If you have any name suggestions for the new baby please leave them down below.

QOTD: How many kids do you want in the future and what genders?

AOTD: Four; first having a girl and then three years later having twins, a boy and a girl, and then two years after that a boy (I have it planed out very specifically lol)

Also I'm looking for something to read so please leave suggestions down below. They can be either a book that can be found in stores and stuff or a Wattpad book.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter. If you did please give a rate and leave a comment. They both really help.

Be Brave,

Maddie
