--Chapter 5~ Pickles and Bananas --
A/N This chapter takes place right before Tobias tells Chris and Tris about the Candor or Dauntless game in the last chapter (while Tobias is finding out about the game himself) Sorry for the confusion, this is just a VERY, VERY short filler chapter that I added when I originally wrote this book and I decided to leave it in.
Tobias' Pov
"Yeah, I'm going to excuse myself from this 'girl drama', so if you don't mind I'll be in my apartment." I say, excusing myself from the table. I really don't like listening to a bunch of crazy, sixteen-year-olds gossip. Excluding Tris, of course."
I walk upstairs to my apartment and into my apartment. Before I can sit down and relax my phone buzzes.
The screen lights up and a notification pops up; a text from Zeke.
(Z= Zeke, F=Four)
Dude, Candor or Dauntless game at my place. Five o'clock, spread the word!- Z
Why can't you get off of your fat butt and invite people yourself? - F
Too lazy and last time I checked, you're just standing by your couch- Z
Ummmmm, how do you know that? - F
Know what? - Z
That I'm standing next to my couch.....? - F
Ummmm, I don't - Z
You literally just said, "Last time I checked, you're just standing next to your couch." - F
Never mind that, just please invite everyone. I'll give you an extra piece of Fauntless cake if you do - Z
Dauntless* - Z
Nice bro and who all should I invite? - F
Shauna, Lauren, Marlene, my idiotic- phsycotic brother, Tris, Lynn, Christina, and Will - Z
K - F
I jump off of my couch and head down to the dormitory hoping someone on my invite list is in there. When I approach the dorm I hear Christina talking. If Chris is in there then Tris probably is too.
"The park! Geez, nosey nelly." Christina is saying as I walk in.
"I thought I would find you two in here. Zeke is inviting us all to play a game called Candor or Dauntless in his apartment later. Be there at five, please." I say, interrupting their conversation. I walk over to Tris, give her a quick peck on the lips, and start to head out of the room.
"Sorry, gotta go." I add.
Christina looks very uncomfortable. I don't think she trusts me. Eh, whatever.
I walk into the cafeteria and see Lynn, Uriah, and Marlene all still sitting at the table. Mar seems to be blushing about something and Lynn seems to be bombarding her with questions. Uriah is in his own little world and staring off into space, as per usual.
"Zeke told me to invite you three to his apartment tonight. We are playing a Candor or Dauntless game. Be there by five." I say quickly. "I'd love to stay and chat, but I have other people to talk to."
I start walking away, but am stopped by Uriah running up to me.
"Wait, I'm coming with you." he says. "I'll be your messenger."
"Fine, Uri. We have to find Will, Shauna, and Lauren."
--Time Lapse--
Uriah and I have been walking around for a little while, trying to find the others.
"I'm tired!" Uriah complains as we're walking.
"Man up!" I say.
"But my legs hurt..." he complains.
Uriah leaps into my arms, bridal- style, obviously wanting me to carry him. I throw him on the ground immediately out of instinct.
"Owwwwwey, what was that for?" he asks.
Uriah and Zeke are like brothers to me, but there's no way I'm carrying them around Dauntless headquarters.
"I'm not carrying you." I say.
"Fine, meanie!" he says, standing up and putting a fake- pout on his face.
We continue to walk for a little bit until we find Will.
"Will, will you please carry me?" Uriah asks as we approach him. What a nice greeting, Uri.
"What the heck? No, I will not carry you." Will says, starting to walk away as if Uriah will kill him at any second. That's honestly most people's first impressions of Uriah, though, so I'm not surprised.
"Wait, there's a Candor or Dauntless party at Zeke's tonight. Be there by five." I say before Will managed to walk too far away.
"Yeah, and do you happen to know where Lauren and Shauna are? We need to find them." Uriah adds.
"Hey, here's an idea. Why don't you..." Will says, taking a dramatic pause in-between words. "Text them!"
Boy are we stupid.
"Well, sorry if not everybody used to be Erudite." Uriah says, defending himself.
I pull out my phone and start a group chat with Shauna and Lauren.
Party at Zeke's tonight. Candor or Dauntless. Be there at five! - F
Okay, I will. - S
So will I - L
Be sure to bring a banana for good luck! - U
What the heck? How did Uriah get in the convo?
What? - L
No, Uriah get out of the conversation and I'm not bringing a banana- S
Fine, then bring a pickle- U
Why?- L
Why not ? - U
I swear there is something seriously wrong with this child......

I just started reading LFA for the third time. The first two times I absolutely HATED it for some reason and couldn't get past page 20 or something. This time I actually love it so much, though and I think it's amazing. I'm not sure why I hated it the first two times because now it's honestly amazing
