Emric's POV:
I've been scared a lot of times in my life. I feared growing up, losing my family, and being alone yet I was never scared of my feelings.
My dad used to say, "Feel every one of your emotions because the essence of those moments turns into memories that lives with you forever."
However, I still had one emotion that I never want to feel, and neither did I want memories of it since it pricks my senses. Nobody escapes the turmoil of love.
No, I don't hate it. I can't hate the most beautiful emotion every person on this planet owns. I just hate a specific part of it. A part that doesn't let me go and neither lets me stay. I just hang in the center like a dumbfuck.
"I'm scared!" the quavering voice made me flinch.
The woman in front of me, paced back and forth in the tiny living room while eating cookies. Stress eating again! I also hate this part of my life where I'm a local acquaintance with the woman who was my first love.
Ms. Thea Annoying, Clumsy, Impatient Marino was my first love.
It's tormenting to be in the same room as her. It's maddening how her worries hurt me. It's suffocating to exist on the same planet as her.
I quietly examined Thea's actions while I cradled her chunky daughter in my arms. Honestly, Rose was the reason I could normally breathe in the same room as her mother.
A few minutes ago, Thea told me about Luke and went back to unnerving her emotions. My mind was on a bridge where I was recalling my past moments with her while another side of my brain was questioning her and Luke's relationship that was unknown to me.
"Why are you scared of him if he is Rose's dad?"
"Shh! Don't say that word in front of her," she whispered.
"Why?"
"Because..." she paused, "Never mind. Just do as I say."
"You're being sus, Thea. Did you do something wrong?" I asked.
"No, I'm not sus. You just judged me too quickly." she rolled her eyes.
"Then tell me why you are afraid of Luke?" I huffed "Look at your face, you look shit scared." I whispered the curse word.
"I can't tell you, Emric." she groaned, still pacing.
I sighed heavily and held her hand. Eyed her to sit down and when she denied it, I pulled her down. The couch forcibly bounced, and her hair brushed across my face. It smelled like roses. Focus Emric, you don't want to smell her hair even if it's relaxing.
"If you just tell me what is wrong with Luke seeing you, I might find a solution." I demandingly asked
"Find a solution?" I nodded "How and why?" she asked.
"Why because I'm seriously worried for you two and how, well, when you tell me the problem, you'll get the solution," I answered.
"Okay", she cleared her throat, "But promise, you won't judge me." she pulled out her pinkie finger. Damnit! Nothing has changed about her.
