THEA'S POV:
An entire fucking week!
I was exhausted and sleepy from moving from location to location, sitting in various makeup chairs, and being blinded by the camera and focus lights. Weekends were not off for jobs like mine. I was working at inconvenient hours. Sometimes early in the morning, sometimes late at night, and sometimes all day.
I'm not complaining considering that this was my life before Rose was born. Passion necessitates consistency, and consistency necessitates dedication. However, after she arrived, I fell into a healthy life pattern.
At the moment, I was working all week and didn't spend enough time with Rose. She was either staying with Mrs. Davis or being babysat by Emric.
With a hectic work schedule, I was beginning to second-guess my relationship with Rose. I was afraid she wouldn't need me anymore now that she only gets breastfed milk occasionally. I've finally decided to stop breastfeeding her, but the process is more difficult than I anticipated. She appears to be gradually distancing herself from me. I wish I could discuss this with my mother and understand how she felt when I was a baby. I could have learned a few things about parenting and motherhood. Unfortunately, I have to do it all by myself because my mother despises me for ridiculous reasons.
It scares me every time Rose does something on her own rather than asking for my assistance. I don't want our mother-daughter relationship to fray.
Carol informed me as I drove her car to her house to pick up Rose, "Babe, you're booked for tomorrow and Sunday." She was going over my shoot dates because she had somehow gotten a job as my part-time manager. Every week, I paid her for one dinner. We had previously visited 5-6 Italian and Thai restaurants.
"Is that all right, or should I reschedule your dates?" She inquired because I had not yet responded.
"No, that's fine with me. I'll have three days with Rose. Great!" As I concentrated on the road, I gave an affirmative thumbs up.
"What's the matter?" "You seem distracted?" She inquired, concerned. "And don't lie," she cautioned.
"I am concerned about Rose." As we approached traffic, I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel. "I don't spend enough time with her these days." I let out a sigh of relief.
"Aww! I can see how it affects you, Thea, but you're MOMDEL." She stroked my arm.
"I understand, but I feel like I'm neglecting her due to work, and I don't want our bond to fray." When the light turned green, I shrugged and began driving.
"She is your daughter, Thea." The bond will never be broken, and you are not neglecting her." I mentally thanked her for saying that because it was helpful. Having someone else reassure you. She laughed. "I see how you manage everything. Even when you're shooting, you call Rose to check on her lunchtime. You always prioritize her over anything else, and I think it's lovely."
I smiled as I noticed her already bright smile. "Thanks. You're good at complimenting people."
She chuckled. "Well, I say what I see. And you—" she pointed at me. "You inspire me to be a mom and have a chubby baby like Rose." I laughed. I inspire her— that's new since she never said that.
"You can only have a baby when you stop hoeing around." I parked the car in the driveway.
"I stopped that a while ago." She winked and I turned my attention fully to her.
