THEA'S POV:

People have waited their entire lives to meet their soulmate, but has anyone ever been told how long that wait should be?

Honestly, my daughter's birthday party didn't pique my interest because constantly my attention was wandering back to the door, longing for him.

Was I finally head over heels in love with him? Was I genuinely crazy about him like he was?

Thea, you were always crazy about him, but you knew how to hide it. Perhaps now, you finally want to be together with him, my angel cleared my doubt. For a fact, it was true. Something had flipped in me since the time I saw Maya in my apartment.

I feared my fear. What if he actually chooses his marriage over me? What if he realizes I'm nothing compared to his wife? What if he understands I can never be the woman his wife is?

Carol told me about Maya and how she is as a person. Apparently, that woman was nothing but a kind lady. We kind of stalked her on the internet and found pictures of her family and then there was a picture of her wedding. Emric looked so young and focused in the photo.

Was I jealous? No!

No? Okay, yes, I was but that was in past. I can't be jealous of things that happened in past. Past can't hurt me, right?

The entire day was coming to an end. Rose's b'day went just like I wanted it to be, except Emric wasn't present for any of her moments. My poor daughter waited for him more than I did.

She was currently playing with a new set of Legos, Carol got for her. I guess she got tired of asking for Emric over and over again and eventually got distracted by gifts. This is what frightened me. I was afraid of Rose's emotions, not of myself.

However, I didn't want to blame Emric because this was the first time he hadn't shown up as promised. He was with his wife. Technically, I shouldn't be mad at him because he was still married and had a right to be with her, but it hurt like a bee stung.

"Mom, can I get you anything else?" I asked. Thanks to Emric for solving my invisible problems. He somehow managed to get my mom here. It was unexplainable when she entered my little home with the sweetest smile in this world. The entire room went silent when she came and Rose jumped in her arms.

"No, I'm already full!" She stood up to take her plate to the kitchen. "You should eat dinner as well." She spoke up. The butterflies in my stomach kicked into high gear every time she called my name or pointed something out to me. I felt like a five-year-old eager to be praised by the teacher.

"Yeah, Thea, come on, eat with me." Carol patted the couch for me to sit but I smiled as I declined her offer.

"No, I'm not hungry yet." I lied. While I was starving, I was still waiting for Emric. So what if he was late for dinner? I can postpone dinner until he arrives.

"Liar!" Carol scoffed. "Everyone knows you wouldn't eat without Emric." I'm sure my cheeks turned red.

"Uhm–I should leave. It was a nice evening." Mom said once she picked up her bag.

I stepped in front of the door and blocked her way. "Mom, stay a little more," I ordered. "Please!" I quickly changed my tone.

She looked at Mrs. Davis and Carol and smiled politely at me. "I'd love to, but I can't. It's getting late already." She denied it as I expected.
