EMRIC'S POV:

***** LAKE HOUSE 2012*****

Asher made Thea and me follow him to the town that connected Lake and our house with all other wooden houses. He begged dad to allow us to explore the town, but he denied it, so he snuck us out. Well, originally, it was just Asher and I but somehow Ms. Medusa aka Thea followed us and threatened Asher to complain about his little exploration if he didn't take her.

Asher gave up and now here, he was guiding us through his printout map while I was walking beside Thea making sure she didn't trip or get kidnapped. Had to protect daddy's princess. I rolled my eyes when she grinned at me for no reason.

How can a girl be so short and beautiful at the same time? How? It's maddening. She does some tickling in my chest. Maybe it was some infection!

She was contagious to my heart.

"Yes, I found this antique store. Let's go, guys!" Asher cheered and rushed into the store. We followed him in only to see a few different stones, wooden treasure boxes, and copper vases.

"This is so boring!" Asher groaned and left. I rushed to follow him but stopped when I saw Thea was adoring stones.

"Asher!! Wait for us!" I yelled at Asher, but he has gone far into the town. I huffed and came back inside and snatched the stone from Ms. Medusa.

"What is this rock?" I asked, curious to know some stupid theory behind it. She was such a dummy.

"It's red marble. Their shape makes them unique. I'm buying this." She squeaked. I rolled my eyes because she was just getting fooled by the shop owner.

"Uh-oh! I can't buy it. It's ten dollars and I don't have that much." She groaned.

"What?" I scoffed. "Ten freaking dollars! He is scamming you." I said and Thea rolled her eyes.

"You don't have to be rude, Emric. This rock is worth ten dollars." She shrugged. "Anyways, let's go. I'll buy it next time." She turned on her heels and left.

"But...." Before I could stop her, I realized she was crossing the street.

I debated, twisted the rock between my fingers, and touched it to my eyes. It felt cold and soothing. I know it was stupid but who cares.

"Here, I'm buying this." The shop owner smirked and handed me the rock in a velvet red drawstring tiny bag as I handed him the money.

I put the rock in my pocket and ran to catch Thea, who was standing outside a restaurant.

"Do you like Corndogs?" she asked when I reached and casually stood behind her like a bodyguard.

"I never tried it." I shrugged still refusing to look at her. I heard groaned and sighed in defeat.

"What a shame!" she snaked her fingers around my arm and dragged me inside. "You'll try them today and you're going to love it."

"How can you be so sure?"
