Chapter 11: His Kids

Bang Chan POV

It goes without saying that my members are my life. I don't know where I would be if I wasn't able to debut with them. I only ever want the best for them even if that means I have to sacrifice myself. They try their best to be there for me, but I never want them to worry over me. I was appointed their leader so it's my responsibility to be strong for them. I let them tease me all they want because it makes them happy. I take care of their problems first before I can even think of mine. Their happiness is mine. But I'm slowly finding happiness in other places.

Talking to Ami this past month has been so nice. We've just been getting to know each other as much as we can before we can go anywhere. She's so respectful of my busy schedule and doesn't force the conversation. I've been happy talking to her when I get the chance.

My laptop is synced up to my phone so whenever I get a text I can see it on my laptop. I'll usually text her from there when I'm working so I'm not grabbing at my phone the whole time. Usually I have my phone off somewhere else since I can send text messages off my laptop. My phone and my laptop are my most useful tools when I make music for the group.

I sitting in the living room just working on some lyrics for one of our songs for this upcoming comeback, No Easy. All of us are glhome today as it's a day off. Things are going smoothly as I get a text from Ami, but I brush it off for a moment as I need to concentrate on a specific chorus. I almost forget about the text message when my maknae, Jeongin, comes running into the living room waving my phone around.

"Hyung, Hyung," Jeongin calls out to me. "You got a text message! Who's Ami?"

This catches the attention of my members that are hanging around the kitchen and the living room. I gently take the phone out of the maknae's hand to see the text I brushed off still on the screen of my phone. Thankfully I set my phone is so you couldn't see what the message says, just that I got a message. The members that are around, Minho, Hyunjin, Felix, and Seungmin, shuffle up to me. I shoot Felix a quick look before looking at the other members. They all look at me with a curious gaze in their eyes.

"Hyung, who's Ami?" Hyunjin asks with curiosity laced in his voice.

"Yeah, hyung," Seungmin pipes up. "Who's Ami?"

"Uh..." I hesitate, which is the wrong decision because that causes all of the members, besides Felix, to start shouting random things. After taking in as much yelling as I can stand, I quiet them down. "Okay! Okay! I'll tell you who Ami is if you all shut up."

And that works. I sigh as I squeeze the bridge of my nose. I really didn't want to be in this position, but Jeongin really forced my hand. I look at all of the members in front of me and they're all waiting with baited breaths. And I don't want to lie to my members. They always deserve the truth from me. I scratch the back of my neck as I quickly formulate how I'm going to tell my members about this girl that I'm talking to.

"Well," I start off slowly. The members nod their head together. "Ami is a girl that I'm talking to."

"Hyung, we get that much, but who is she?" Minho presses a little more aggressively.

"She's a girl that I met in a cafe shop about a month  ago," I reply back.

"Does she know you're an idol?" Jeongin asks curiously.

"Yes... But she doesn't care! She's not into Kpop at all! But she's best friends with Younghoon from The Boyz."

"Hyung!" Minho practically yells at me. Everyone turns to him. "This is obviously a fake story she's telling you! There's no way this girl is best friends with Younghoon. She's going to use you for your fame. You need to change your number now!"

"Minnie hyung," Felix says softly, placing a hand on Minho's shoulder. "Hear Chan Hyung out."

"No! Hyung is putting us in danger! She could be a saesang for all you know! How reckless could you be? And she has your number too? I am praying she doesn't know where we live. This is the dumbest thing you could ever do! Do you have any idea how much danger you have put us in? And for what? Some girl?"

All of Minho's yelling draws Changbin and Jisung out of the room they were in. They walk into the living room to see their leader looking guilty and Felix and Hyunjin practically holding Minho back.

"What is going on in here?" Changbin yells, addressing the group. Jisung staying by Changbin side, not knowing which hyung's side he should go to.

"Our 'leader' is talking to some girl!" Minho cries out pointing a finger at me.

"Is that true?" Jisung asks me quietly.

I nod my head yes. "But it's not as big of a deal as Minho is making it out to be," I try to plead to my members. "He's blowing this way out of proportion. He's accusing this girl of things that I know she wouldn't dream of doing. If Minho would just let me talk, I can set the record straight."

"Like what, hyung?" Changbin asks me.

"Like showing Minho proof that the girl I'm talking to is best friends with Younghoon from The Boyz."

"What does this have to do with you talking to a girl?"

"I was trying to tell Minho that this girl doesn't care about me being an idol because her best friend is an idol. I wouldn't risk talking to this girl if I didn't know she would be able to handle me being an idol. She's not a saesang and she understands to a certain degree what idol life is like. She wouldn't use my status as an idol for any personal game or to expose me. We understand each other on a deeper level."

"Are you sure you really know that though?" Minho questions me aggressively. "She's just some random girl you met in a cafe shop. And what could she possibly understand about you?"

"There are just things about me that she just understands that. Things that you guys can't understand."

"Like what?! We're your family! What can't we understand about you that some girl can?"

"That's between me and her. You honestly wouldn't understand. And I don't expect you to understand."

"Are you keeping secrets from us now? I thought we had an honest and open relationship in this group! But I guess not!"

"I am not! And we do! I wanted to tell you about Ami when I knew this was getting serious! We're just talking right now. Would you listen to me for one second?! I can show you proof that this girl is best friends with Younghoon and that she doesn't care about me being an idol. She doesn't have anything to gain by talking to me. Her and I have a mutual understanding of one another in a way that none of you could ever understand, okay?"

"Like what! If you don't tell us right now, I will leave this group and never turn back! I can't be in this group knowing that you can't trust us, but you can trust some random girl you barely know!"

That pushes me over the edge. I would never want a member of my group to leave because of mistrust in the group. That happened once before and I'm not letting it happen again. "She understands that I'm A Daddy, okay?!"
