Chapter 48: Public Exposure

It started out as a normal day. I'm at a schedule with The Boyz. Eric is finally back in Korea. He isn't participating in any of the schedules just yet, but that doesn't mean he can't attend them. Suddenly my phone goes off and it's a text from Bang Chan, asking where I am and if I can talk. He sounds frantic so I immediately call him.

"Channie, is everything okay?" I ask him nervously.

"Someone posted photos of us out on a date. I've contacted JYP. Someone brought it up on my Live. I didn't even mention it. I looked it on Twitter. It's us at a late-night cafe. Your mask is on, but mine is down as I'm drinking a coffee. We're holding hands. We're trending on Twitter. Stays are going crazy. They're half supportive, half mad. Someone is linking you to The Boyz, they're saying they've seen you at the airport next to The Boyz before and at schedule. It's crazy," Bang Chan rants wildly as I can only imagine hkm pacing back and forth wherever he is.

"Channie, baby, calm down. I will get in touch with IST. I will have them take down as many photos as they can. I'll talk to JYP and have IST in communication with him. But Channie, this means you have to put out a statement. I know your company will want to do the same."

As I'm free asking to Bang Chan, I'm texting my contact inside of IST that helps with social media and taking down any images of me. How people are able to connect me to The Boyz is crazy as there are no images of me on the internet, but I'm not completely invisible. I am physically near them all the time. People will start to recognize me sooner or later.

"What do I say, baby?" Bang Chan asks frantically. "This isn't part of our plan. I didn't want our relationship to be exposed like this. I thought we were careful. This is all my fault. I just put you in danger. Ami, I'm so sorry."

"Chan. You did nothing wrong," I tell him softly, trying to calm him down. "We will get through this. If we have to announce our relationships, that's fine with me. I know you don't want to lie to Stays and I know you want me to be as safe as possible. I will be okay with whatever you choose to do. I know we planned to release the news of our relationship in a different way, but we can't help who sees us and how they handle that. I know JYP has our backs and IST will protect me as well. They can't afford to lose me. We will be okay, alright?"

"I love how calm you are right now, Ami. I'm over here panicking and you always have everything sorted out. We will be okay. JYP just texted me. He wants me to meet up with the both of us. Are you busy right now?"

"I'm at a schedule with The Boyz right now, but I'm not needed at the moment. I can leave."

"Are you sure? I can tell him we can meet later if that's better for you."

"No, they'll be fine without me. I'll head over there now."

"Okay. Meet me at the building?"

"I will. I love you, Channie."

"I love you too, baby."

We end the call as I start to gather my things. I go searching for Sangyeon as well as the head manager. I find the manager first and I let him know that there is an emergency and that I need to leave immediately. He allows me to leave and tells me to contact him if I need anything. I thank him and leave to find Sangyeon. I find him goofing off with Eric as Sangyeon doesn't need to be on screen at the moment.

"Sangyeon, I have to leave," I tell him softly. I try not to give away that anything is wrong.

Sangyeon turns to me with concern. "Noona, is everything okay?" Sangyeon asks in worry. Eric also looks at me in worry.

"Everything is fine. Something happened with Chan and I need to go meet him."

"Is he okay?" Eric asks practically leaping up from his chair.

"He's fine, Eric. Um... We've been exposed on Twitter and now we have to talk to JYP."

"Exposed? Someone posted photos of you with Chan Hyung?"

"Yes. And I'm sure JYP and Chan are going to be wanting to put out a statement as soon as possible. We're going to have an emergency meeting."

"Are you guys going to be okay? They're not going to make you break up, are they?"

"Of course not, my Maknae. They would never do that to us. But people online are connecting me to you guys as people are claiming that they've seen me before. So I'll need to talk to IST right now and figure out if they want to put out a statement as well. Please don't tell the others till I figure out what JYP and Chan say. We should have everything figured out by the end of today."

Eric quickly pulls me into a hug and I hug him back. "I hope everything goes well, Noona. I know Chan loves you very much and nothing will stop your love."

"You're such a romantic, Eric. I'll see you guys later, okay? If the others ask where I am, just tell them I had to run some errands."

"Okay," Sangyeon agrees as he gives me a hug as well. "We'll see you later, Noona."

I wave to them goodbye as I grab my backpack and leave the venue. I make sure that I leave without being seen by the other members and head to the private car waiting for me. I already got that car prepared before finding Sangyeon. I get into the car and tell him to take me to the JYPE building. I tell Bang Chan that I am on my way and he tells me that he's already at the building, waiting for me outside of JYP's office. The car takes me to the private entrance through the parking garage and I head into the building. I scan my badge to get in. I head straight up to JYP's office. As soon as I step out of the elevator, I see Bang Chan pacing outside of JYP's offic door. Bang Chan hears the elevator go off and sees me standing there. He rushes up to me and hugs me tightly.

"I'm so sorry, baby," Bang Chan apologizes to me.

I hug him back just as tight. "Channie, this is not your fault. We can't help who sees us and they react. It was bound to happen, okay? Don't beat yourself up over this."

"You are so amazing in how you're dealing with this. I'm a nervous wreck and you're so calm, baby."

"I'm nervous too. But that doesn't mean I need to freak out. I wanna be Little so bad, but I can't right now because I have to be a big girl and deal with this so we can move on."

"Look at my big girl. Being an adult and taking action. Such a good girl."

"Channie, not the time."

"Right. Let's go."
