Chaptet 50: Our Statements

"Stray Kids's leader, Bang Chan, has confirmed his relationship with one of the managers for The Boyz after a photo was posted online of him holding hands with a mysterious girl at a late night cafe. In a statement posted on both the Stray Kids's instagram and Twitter accounts, Bang Chan states that he and this girl have been dating for a little over a year now and have the expressed support of both his members, The Boyz members, and both companies. Both companies have released statements of their own, confirming and expressing support for the relationship. The unidentified female has been spotted with The Boyz by fans going as far back as their recent US tour and at different events The Boyz have attended, but were unsure of her relationship to the boy group. Neither IST nor JYP will release the name of the girl as to protect her identity and privacy. Fans of both groups have expressed different opinions. Some saying that they are excited to see Bang Chan in a committed relationship as long as he's happy. Others are angry that Bang Chan is in a relationship, stating that this will take away from his career. Most fans have a lot of questions as to the weird connection between The Boyz and Stray Kids, some going as far as speculating that one of the The Boyz members introduced their manager to Stray Kids's leader when both groups attending the same events in the past. Some fans are wondering if this is a publicity stunt to gain popularity for both groups. The couple in question have not been seen out in public since the photos were posted by an anonymous account on Twitter. Said photo has been taken down within a few hours of it being posted. Stray Kids are currently in the middle of promotions with their album, Maxident. The Boyz are attending different schedules as well as having their international concerts. We support Bang Chan's decision to share his relationship with the world and hope him and his girlfriend all the best."

"Everyone has been kind so far. At least in the media," Younghoon says as he scrolls through his phone.

I haven't looked at anything since we dropped the statements about Bang Chan and I dating. When The Boyz saw the news, they immediately called me. I told them I would talk to them tomorrow as I just wanted to spend the rest of the day with Bang Chan. They respected my wishes and requested I come to their dorm, with snacks. Bang Chan and I went back to his dorm and I spent the rest of the day deep into my Little Space. I didn't even want to think about what people are saying about our relationship. I just wanted my Daddy and my stuffies. The members were very comforting as well, taking turns to play with me.

Now it's the next day and I'm in Younghoon's room. The rest of the members are chilling around the dorms. Younghoon wanted me to himself first before he let the others ask me questions.

"Well that's good, but I know you're skipping all of the hate comments," I comment as I'm on my laptop.

I've been talking to IST a lot today as they are being contacted left and right about me, well, more than usual. IST wants to know what information they can present to public as well as what JYP knows so if any company releases any more statements, all of the facts match up.

"I'm kinda trained to do that," Younghoon remarks. "Damn, IST is really good at removing all traces of you. I can't find that photo of you that was posted."

"They're great, huh? I have a copy if you want to look at it."

I hand Younghoon my phone with the screenshot of the photo a fan took of Bang Chan and I at the cafe. It's pretty clear that's Bang Chan, but I'm still wearing a mask and I happen to be moving so the image of me is blurry. But I can tell it's me.

"Wow. It's crazy to believe that now people know about your relationship, but they have no clue who you are," Younghoon remarks in astonishment. "You're a complete mystery to all of Kpop."

"When you put it that way, sounds pretty cool. I've never been one for mystery, but I could be one of K-pop's greatest mysteries."

"And I am the best friend of that mystery. So how's Bang Chan been dealing with all of this?"

"He was really sorry at first because he thought he ruined my life. But I was able to convince him that it wasn't his fault and that we can't control when fans see us in public. He's actually going to address more things on his YouTube live this weekend. He's going to answer some of Stay's questions. Definitely not all of them because all people really want to know is my name. The rest of Stray Kids have been really chill about this too. They've all texted me different words of encouragement. How have you guys been dealing with it? It's only been a day, but a lot has already happened."

"That's good. We're dealing with that we can. People are commenting on our photos and tweeting at us, but we won't say anything unless you want us to. We have a Vlive coming up soon. Do you want us to answer any questions then?"

"Sure. You guys know what you can and can't say. You know you can't mention anything about our friendship. That would probably light more fires rather than putting anything out. Just make sure to only refer to me as Noona."

"Sounds good. I'll make sure to relay that to the others. We don't want to let anything slip that would jeopardize your identity and your safety."

Suddenly the door is thrown open and Sunwoo and Eric are standing in the door way. Both of them with big pouts on their lips, the sight is quite comical.

"Can we have Noona now?" Eric asks impatiently. "You've had her for an hour already. We want Noona's attention now."

"Yah!" Younghoon calls out. "She's my best friend, not your play toy. You can't have her whenever you want."

"But we want to show Noona the clothes we bought," Sunwoo whines.

"And we bought things for Noona too," Eric cuts in.

"Ooo. I love when you two buy me things," I say happily. I get up from Younghoon's bed and skip over to the maknaes. "Bye Younghoon!"

"Yah! You're just gonna leave me like that?" Younghoon cried out.

"Well did you buy me anything recently?"

"My friendship is a gift in and of itself."

"Not good enough. Buh-bye!"

"Hey!"
