Chapter 49: Big Statement

Bang Chan and I walk up to the JYP's office door and he knocks. We hear a voice call out "come in" and we walk in together. JYP is sitting at his desk with his laptop in front of him. Once he sees us, he puts away the laptop.

"You two know why you're here," JYP says in a serious tone.

Bang Chan and I nod our heads.

"My legal team and I are ready to write a statement as soon as possible. We've been contacted by several news outlets trying to get a statement and we've been delaying it till I got you two together. Now, how are we dealing with this?"

"Bang Chan and I have both agreed to announcing our relationship," I answer him as confidently as possible.

"We have been together for one year now and we are okay with letting the public know that we are dating."

"And you have been linked to The Boyz according to several people online. How are you handling that?"

"If you are willing to talk with them, IST is willing to put out a statement announcing that I am one of The Boyz's managers and confirming that that they are aware of the relationship and have no problem with it as well as me working with The Boyz. They should have emailed you already."

"I did receive an email from them. They are very fast. They have also told me about taking down images of you two together. They really know how to get rid of photographic evidence of your existence, Ami."

"Yes. They will protect me at all costs and are prepared for every occasion. Even a 'dating scandal.' There's nothing they can't handle."

"Good, good. So what is going to be our exact statement?"

"We will confirm that Bang Chan and I have been dating for a year. We will let the public know that I did not know Bang Chan was an idol until we offically started dating. But I do not want my name to be released. We will also state that I have been working under IST since The Boyz's debut and have no motivation to use Bang Chan's idol status to my advantage. IST will release a statement as well confirming my employment with the company and supporting me in my relationship. They have it written to be released at any moment. They've also been contacted any news outlets as well. They will post the statement as soon as I give them my permission."

"You have this well thought out, Ami-sshi. I am impressed. Bang Chan, is there anything you want to add?"

"With the statement, we will express that the members as well as this company is supportive of this relationship. We want to make sure that it is clear that you as well as the company is aware of the relationship and that I am not going behind anyone's back to be dating Ami."

"Good, good. How soon do you want to release the statement?"

"Some time later today," I interject. "I want to make sure that both you and IST have the similar statements prepared so there isn't any confusion when people read it. I will ask The Boyz members if they want to make any statements as well since they are connected to this."

"What time would be good for putting out the statements?"

"5 pm."

"Okay. Bang Chan, write your statement and send it to me as well as your manager. I will send my statement to your contact at IST and once all of the statements have been read and agreed upon, I personally will make sure they are made public. I will not answer any news outlets until then and I assume IST will do that same as well."

"Yes. I'm sure they're keeping their silence until we are all ready."

"Good. I'm glad we can get this all settle. I am sorry that you two have been put into this position earlier than anticipated, but you both have show great maturity in the face of all of this. I can't promise any of this will be easy. But from what I've seen, with a love like your's, I think you will be fine. Bang Chan, you are currently doing promotions right now so you need to focus on that. Ami, I'm sure you are busy with The Boyz. You know this building is a safe space for you to have dates if you want to while this whole thing settles down. Now, I need to consult with my team for the company statement. Bang Chan, I suggest writing your's and submit it to me as soon as possible. I will be in contact with IST as well. You two make go now."

We both bid JYP goodbye and bow as we leave. He waves us goodbye. Bang Chan leads me back to his studio. I sit on the couch while Bang Chan sits at his desk. He opens up his laptop and turns it on so he can start on his statement. I pull out my own laptop and check through my emails. I see an email from one of the higher ups at IST with their statement to give to the press. I read it over and make some edits. I send it back for confirmation. I also request to send it to JYP once they agree to the edited statement.

It takes Bang Chan half an hour to write up his own statement. He has me read through it to make sure that everything makes sense. Once I agree to his statement, he sends it off to JYP. Once Bang Chan hits send, he throws his head back and lets out a huge sigh. I crawl into his lap and rest my head against his chest. He wraps his arms around me and rest his chin on top of my head.

"Are we doing the right thing?" Bang Chan asks softly.

"I think so," I respond in almost a whisper. "Do you regret it?"

"Not for a second. I love you."

"I love you too."
