"Noona," I heard the deep voice of my baby chick, Chihoon.

"Baby chick," I coo happily. "I've missed you!"

"I've missed you too, Noona. It's been awhile since we've seen each other. How are you going?"

"I've been doing well. The Boyz have been busy so work has been a little stressful, but Stray Kids help relieve that stress. You would think I'm their little manager too with how much I hang out with them."

"You really do spend a lot of time with both groups."

"Mhmm. So what does my baby chick want? You usually don't call like this."

"So, there is something I wanted to ask you."

"What is it, baby chick?"

"Will you come to my enlistment day?"

"Enlistment day? You're enlisting already?"

"Mhmm. I think it's time for me to go. And I want you there on my day."

"I would love to be there. Will it just be me there?"

"No. My parents will be coming too."

"Auntie and uncle? I haven't seen them since before I got kicked out... Will I have to see them?"

"I would like you too. Mom and dad know we're in contact."

"Oh..."

"They asked if you were able to come to my enlistment ceremony. I think it would be really nice for you to come and see them."

"Baby chick, I will have to think about it. It's been so long since I've since anyone from the family. What if they hate me? I'm sure your parents know why I was kicked out and disowned all those years ago."

"They couldn't hate you, Noona. You were treated like their own daughter, I'm sure they would love to see you. Please, come and see for yourself."

"Do you think I could bring Channie along? I think I'll need the emotional support."

"Of course, Noona. Anything that will make you comfortable. I just want to see you one more time before I enlist."

"Okay, baby chick. I will go. For you."

"Thank you, Noona. I will send you the details soon. I love you!"

"I love you too, my baby chick."

It wasn't hard to convince Bang Chan to come with me. Thankfully he had no schedules on this day so he could be with me the whole time. We arrive early to the ceremony so I can make sure that I see my aunt and uncle before they can see me. That plan failed as my heart stops as I see them talking to Chihoon. Chihoon's shaved head looks around as if scoping the area and it stops as he spots me at a distance. He gestures for me to come over and his parents follow his gaze. They stand still as I cautiously make my way over. Once I'm in front of them, I bow deeply towards them.

"Hello auntie and uncle," I say after I lift my body from the bow.

"Oh Ami. It really is you," my aunt whispers softly as she looks over my form. She reaches a hand out, but retracts it as I avoid her eyes.

"Yes. It's been a long time since we've met."

"It's been too long. You've grown into such a beautiful young lady. I can't believe it's almost been 10 years since we've last seen each other. It's been too long."

"It has been. But I am not welcomed in the family anymore. I'm not even sure I should even be speaking with you right now."

"Nonsense. I don't know why my brother would disown his only child." My auntie reaches out and takes my hands in hers. I look up at her. "Oh sweetie. If only we had known at the time. We would've taken you in. No one knew where you went. No one knew how to contact you. My brother and sister-in-law made it seem like you died. We wanted to file a missing persons report, but your parents wouldn't allow us. They said that you were dead to them and that was it. They act like you never existed at all. It was so hard to deal with. You were like our own daughter. I wished everyday that you were safe and taken care of. We were so shocked when we heard that you were in contact with Hoonie. We thought you might be able to come back. We've missed you so much."

Tears pool in my eyes as I listen to her words. Her eyes are glistening too. She pulls me into a tight hug and I sob into her shoulder. She sobs as well. Thankfully we're off to the side to not many people are walking in our direction.

My aunt was always like a second mother to me. I never thought I could turn to her when I got kicked out. I thought I was alone. I wish I had know this earlier. As much as I love Younghoon and what his family did for me, I still crave that connection to my family. I thought having Chihoon back was enough, but having my aunt's arms around me felt like I was truly home.

After a few minutes of us sobbing together, we finally pull away from each other. My uncle wraps his arms around my aunt and Chan does the same to me. I look at Chihoon and he has tears in his eyes. I chuckle as I wipe them away. My aunt chuckles too, knowing how I was always the one to take care of Chihoon like he was my own kid.

"Oh my, I didn't even know you came here with someone," My aunt gasps, finally noticing Bang Chan.

Bang Chan pulls away from me for a moment to bow. "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Choi. I'm Bang Chan. I'm Ami's boyfriend."

"A boyfriend? Ami, you have such handsome boyfriend here," my aunt giggles, causing the both of us to blush. "He's so polite too."

"Thank you, auntie," I murmur, the blush creeping up my neck.

"I hope he's taking good care of you. He looks like he can provide a lot for you."

"Don't worry, Mrs. Choi," Bang Chan chimes in. "Ami is well taken care of with me."

"Good. Now, as touching as this all has been, today is about Hoonie and we need to prepare for the ceremony."

"Thank you, mom," Chihoon thanks her as we all share a smile. "Let's get this show on the road."

We all watch as Chihoon gets sworn in. Then we say our final goodbyes and Chihoon goes off with his fellow soldiers. My aunt and I exchange numbers and promise to go out to lunch as soon as possible. I feel a weight lifting off my chest as we leave the enlistment ceremony and head back to my apartment. As soon as I'm in the car with Bang Chan, I melt into my seat. I hug the Sunwoo plush that I had brought for comfort. Bang Chan reaches over and pets my head lovingly.

"How was that, baby?" Bang Chan asks softly.

"It was good, Daddy," I murmur, snuggling into my Sunwoo plush.

"That's good, baby. I'm glad. Now, why don't we go back to your apartment, snuggle, and watch Studio Ghibli movies? How does that sound, huh?"

"I would like that very much. I'm very happy, Daddy."

"That's what I like to hear, baby girl."
