After dealing with my dipshit cousin, I crashed last night. I woke up early and drank a coffee while I got ready, then checked my phone to see if I had any messages. I didn't. I wonder if Sofie enjoyed herself yesterday.

I'll call Sofie later and talk to her.

After finishing my coffee, I left to meet Dad and Elias at the office. I walked into their office to find them waiting. "Am I late?" I checked my watch.

"No. The client hasn't arrived yet," Dad said.

"How's the roommate life going?" Elias asked me.

"Explain how I became the den mother to four grown-ass men?" I asked.

Elias chuckled. "Welcome to my world."

I shook my head.

"Don't worry. Soon your roommates will fly the coop," Dad said.

"If they keep up their shit, they may flyer sooner."

Dad chuckled.

Dad and Elias's Secretary announced the arrival of Mr. Haywood. Great.

We stood in the office as a man in a business suit walked into the office.

"Mr. Haywood," Elias greeted the client, extending his hand.

Mr. Haywood glanced at Elias's hand, sat in a chair, and unbuttoned his suit coat. "Mr. Harper, I'm not here to exchange pleasantries. I'm here to have a house built."

Elias lowered his hand. "Yes, I'm aware."

Dad and I glanced at each other. Elias has Matt's temper and hates arrogant assholes.

"I'm hiring your company to build me a house on the secluded property," Mr. Haywood said.

"You asked for certain specifications, which we can do. But the house must be ADA compliant to fit the new laws," Elias said.

"I'm sure you can bypass the compliance."

"Mr. Haywood, no building inspector will pass a newly built structure without ADA compliance."

"It's not like I need a house to fit disabilities. My family is healthy." Mr. Haywood smirked.

Dad stepped in before Elias beat the client. I wouldn't have minded since he deserved it.

"Mr. Haywood, if we build your house without ADA compliance, you will need to hire your own inspector and sign a waiver form," Dad told the client.

"Then give me the form and stop wasting my time," Mr. Haywood said.

Dad picked up the phone and told the secretary to bring the necessary forms. After she handed the paperwork to Dad, he and Elias went through everything with the client.

"What is the timeframe on the build?" Dad asked the client.

"Five months," the client said.

"Wait. Did you say five months?" I asked.

"I didn't stutter."

My jaw clenched.

"Five months is doable," my dad said.

Elias looked at Dad like he was insane. I had to question my dad's sanity with a massive structure like this being built in five months.

"Can I ask why the rush?" Elias asked.

Yes, thank God. Someone is using their brain.

"I have an unruly daughter, who needs a reminder of her place," the client said.
