Odin
I awoke to my phone ringing and answered it. "Hello?"
The streets are flooded, and power lines are down. We can't get to the site.
I rubbed my eyes and glanced at the water trickling down the window pane as lightning flashed and thunder boomed.
We can't work until power gets restored. I'll call you when we can.
"That's fine." I heard banging from the front door and ended the call with Dad. I padded to the living room and opened my door to find a drenched Sofie. I didn't hesitate to pull her inside and close the door.
"Sorry. My power is out." Sofie removed the hood from her hoodie.
"Where's Ricardo?"
"I don't know. The car's gone." Sofie shook her head and shrugged her shoulders.
"Let me get you some dry clothes before you catch a cold."
Sofie followed me to my bedroom. I grabbed a pair of sweats, a tee shirt, and a hoodie from my closet and handed them to her. Then I left the room so she could change.
Jordin's door opened as he stood there with his hair stuck up and rubbing his eyes. "What's going on?"
"Dad called and said power was out, and the streets are flooded. He'll call us when the power gets restored."
"Who was at the door?"
"Sofie. Her power is out."
Jordin stretched and yawned. "I'm going back to bed."
When Jordin's door closed, my door opened. Sofie emerged dressed in my clothes. She swam in my clothes but damn if she didn't look good wearing them.
"What do you want me to do with my soaked clothes?" Sofie held her wet clothes out from her.
I took them from her. "I'll throw them in the dryer." I plodded to the utility room and tossed her clothes into the dryer. Then I returned to find her making coffee.
"I didn't mean to impose on you."
I pulled Sofie to me and wrapped my arms around her. "You're not imposing. I would rather have you wake me up than my idiot cousins." I leaned in and pressed my lips to Sofie's.
After a few minutes, Sofie finished making the coffee. "Hungry?"
"Sure. Why not?"
Sofie grabbed food from the fridge as I grabbed pans. She started making breakfast with my help. While breakfast was cooking, bedroom doors opened. Kyler, Roman, and Ryden appeared in the kitchen.
"What's going on?" Kyler asked.
"We're making breakfast. Coffee is brewing." I nodded to the coffeemaker as it dripped coffee into the pot.
"Works for me." Kyler grabbed a cup and waited for the coffee to get done.
"I thought you ended things with your stupidity?" Roman yawned.
"I corrected my mistake." I flipped a pancake.
Sofie glanced at me and smirked.
"Good to know that you're not a complete dumbass." Roman grabbed a cup from the cabinet. "Dad hired some chick named Daria the other night."
Sofie stopped flipping bacon and stared at Roman.
"First, the chick tried to pass herself off as a sixty-year-old Mexican woman named Consuela."
