Sofie
Since Odin wasn't working, he took me to school and dropped me off. I walked in as Marla sprinted down the hallway, stopped, turned around, and flipped someone off with both hands.
"Eat shit and die, you stupid troll!"
"You wait, you stupid dyke. I'll beat your ass!"
"Suck my left titty, you hag!" Marla turned and noticed me. "Oh, hey, Sofie."
"What did you do?"
"Pissed off bitch face."
"Is that any way to talk to your sister?"
"My sister can pound sand." Marla shrugged.
"You have the strangest relationship with your siblings." I raised my finger.
"I told my parents I didn't need a little sister. They didn't listen to me. Thank God I graduate this year."
"What are you going to do after graduation?"
We turned and walked down the hallway.
"I thought about getting a nanny job," Marla mentioned.
"Don't you need training for that?"
"How hard is it to watch a kid?" Marla shrugged.
"Do you want me to answer that?"
Marla rolled her eyes. "So, did you escape, Daddy Dearest?"
"Well, the Feds arrested my dad, so yep."
Marla stopped me. "Say what?"
"Oh, I didn't tell you. The Feds busted my dad on my birthday after he fought with Odin."
"Fought? Like argued?"
"No, like using their fists."
Marla's brows lifted. "Well, damn."
"Then Odin asked me to move in with him."
"I have no words."
"Welcome to my life." I shrugged.
Melody approached us with a sullen look.
"What's up your ass?" Marla asked.
Melody puckered her lips and glared at Marla.
"Ignore, Marla. She's fighting with her little sister again," I mentioned.
"I asked Demarco if he wanted to plan our next youth group topic. He said he was busy," Melody said.
"What's with you and this, Demarco? It sounds like he doesn't like you. Take a hint and move in," Marla said.
"Seriously?" I asked Marla.
"What?"
"You need to work on motivational speaking because you suck at it."
"Why lie? It does nothing but screws the pooch."
"Ignore, Marla. Mother Nature visited her," I told Melody.
"I think Marla's right," Melody said.
"Thank you, lord Jesus!" Marla raised her hands in the air. "Finally, someone sees the truth."
"Will you stop?" I asked.
"What fun is that?" Marla shrugged.
"I pity the child you take care of. They will need Jesus after spending the day with you."
Marla rolled her eyes.
We continued to class, or we would never make it. My friends have more issues than a magazine.
