Odin
I spent time with Sofie for a few days during the office was closed. When Dad and Elias reopened the office, we started work on the new construction. The brothers, my brother, and my cousin came home from school for the summer.
Val arrived at the construction site to review the plans. I explained in detail about the client and the horror we had to build. He was less than enthused.
"Please tell me our dads made this asshole sign a waiver form?" Val asked.
"Oh, our dads made the client not only sign a waiver form but banned him from the construction site."
"Good. We don't need some asswipe giving us his opinion."
I chuckled.
Roars of digging equipment drove up and broke ground for the foundation. Dad instructed the digging crew on the dimensions of the foundation. It would take a week for the digging crew to prep the ground to have the foundation laid.
"How's it going with the roommates' situation?" Val asked me.
"I should have listened to you."
"Told you it was a bad idea."
"It wouldn't be bad if Jordin kept his hoes in check."
Val arched his brow.
"How's college life?"
"It has its moments. You're playing den mother to our cousins. I'm playing den father to my brothers, cousins, and girls."
I chuckled. "I heard about Reese dumping Liam."
"Yeah, but Romeo ensured the crash wasn't so bad."
"Yeah, Dad called me and told me what had happened."
"It pays to be honest." Val shrugged.
I couldn't disagree with Val. We all told Liam to be honest. He chose to ignore us.
"Are you coming to Rafe's party?"
"No. I need to keep people moving, but I'm coming to your dad and Marty's party, per dad's orders."
Val gave me a knowing look. I didn't attend parties unless my old man ordered me to.
Pat, Romeo, and Marty showed up.
"Where's the other dipshit?" Val asked his brothers.
"That idiot is busy chasing a girl," Pat said.
"Christ," Val mumbled.
"Why are we here? It's not like we can do anything until the framing goes up," Romeo said.
Elias walked by. "Because I'm not raising hobos."
Romeo whipped around. "Thanks for the encouragement, Dad!"
"Love you, too, son!"
I shook my head as Val dealt with his brothers. More families arrived to help. I had the task of explaining everything. The cousins groaned.
I left the cousins to grumble while I talked to my brother. "Hey, I heard about what happened to you and Reese."
"Yeah, well, shit happens." Liam shrugged.
"Next time, don't keep your options open."
Liam glared at me.
"At least working will keep you busy, so you don't dwell on your epic failure." I patted Liam's shoulder and walked away.
"You're a dick, Odin!"
"Love you, too, Liam!"
I love my brother, but he needs to get his head out of his ass. Hopefully, this summer will straighten his ass out. It's doubtful, but one can hope.
