Odin

We left the Federal Building and walked to a nearby restaurant to eat. A hostess seated us at a table and handed us menus. I flipped open my menu and scanned the food selections, then decided on one.

"What was the point of the Feds questioning Odin and Sofie?" Dad asked Grayson.

"The Feds want to cover their asses since they've botched previous investigations. I would worry about it," Grayson said.

A server came to the table, took our orders, and left.

"So, where does this leave the business?" I asked Dad.

"Grayson is handling the legalities. As of now, we can't operate, which is fine since the holidays are coming. Elias and I have enough money to keep the business afloat until we start building again."

I nodded.

Ricardo

Robert Haywood had me drive him from the airport to a park. Once he got out of the car and walked away, I left and gave Brady the signal. While Brady moved on Haywood, I returned to the house and suited up. Other agents arrived.

On the count of three, we drew our sidearms and entered the Haywood residences.

"FBI!" I announced.

Agents scoured the house with their guns drawn. Clear rang throughout the house. The agents returned to the main floor.

"Confiscate all computers, security cameras, and files," I ordered.

The agents nodded and collected any electronics and files. We moved to the guest house and searched it. Once we finished our search, I checked in with Brady.

After packing my stuff, I stood in the guest house. It was bittersweet since I spent over two years undercover. I couldn't even tell Sofie the truth. She would hate me if I did.

I carried my stuff out to the car and loaded it. When I finished and closed the trunk, a car pulled up next to mine. Sofie got out as Odin followed suit but stopped.

Sofie walked toward me. "You will never believe what happened last night."

I glanced at Odin as Odin knitted his brows in confusion.

Sofie noticed the bags in my car. "Going somewhere?"

"Your dad fired me when he found out you weren't home." I shrugged.

"What?" Sofie furrowed her brows.

"Your dad didn't think I was doing my job." I raised my finger and forced a smile.

"I'm so sorry. What will you do now?"

"I'll figure out something. You know me. I always land on my feet." I gave Sofie a playful punch in the shoulder.

"Call me if you need anything."

"I will." I nodded.

Sofie hugged me as I hugged her back. Then I climbed into my car, backed out, and drove to my next assignment. Brady was right. Never get close to the people when you're on an assignment because it's harder to walk away.

Sofie

I stood in my driveway as I watched Ricardo's car leave. It felt like a piece of me went with him.

"You okay?" Odin asked me.

"Ricardo made living here bearable. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have survived." I shrugged.

Odin pulled me to him and engulfed me with his arms. "You have me, your friends, and my family."

I placed my hands on Odin's back and hugged him. Within a few days, my world changed. I'm wondering if God is laughing at me.
