Odin
While I worked, my phone beeped with a message. I checked to find a message from an unknown number and read it.
Hey, it's Sofie. I had to use Melody's phone.
What's wrong with your phone?
My dad came home and tracked my text messages and phone calls.
I knitted my brows. Okay.
I still want to see you, but I need to figure out how to do it.
I thought about the situation. I might have a solution. Does your dad know all of your friends?
No, he's only met a few. Why?
Does your dad have an issue with attending church?
Unfortunately, no.
Good. Give me some time, and I'll enlist some help.
Thanks, Odin.
Anytime, sweets. I slid my phone into my back pocket.
Uncle Oliver hosts a youth group at his church. It would be the perfect excuse to see Sofie.
*******
SofieI handed Melody her phone. "Do you still attend that youth group?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Would you mind if I joined you?"
"No. Why?"
"I've been seeing this guy. His uncle owns a church and hosts a youth group."
"Are you talking about Reverend Harper?"
"Yep."
"Reverend Harper allows us to gather and discuss ideas and issues."
"Do you have a Bible?"
"Of course. Why?" Melody gave me a suspicious glance.
"I'll need your help." I smiled and walked away.
Melody looked at the ceiling. "Lord, forgive me for lying."

OdinI returned to work as Kyler and Jordin carried lumber and set it down. "Hey, Jordin?"
"Yeah?" Jordin wiped the sweat from his brow.
"What days does your dad host that youth group?"
"Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Why?"
"Does it matter the age?"
"Not really." Jordin shrugged. "My dad figures if people want to find Jesus, he will show them the way."
"Your dad always wants to bring Jesus into someone's life," Kyler told Jordin.
"My dad's a minister, for Christ's sake."
"Who's our Lord and Savior, you heathen," Casper said, walking past while pushing a wheelbarrow.
"No one asked for your opinion!" Jordin told Casper.
"You need Jesus more than the rest of us!"
"Oh, yeah?" Jordin ran after Casper and chased Casper around the construction site.
"How much do you want to bet one falls into the wet cement?" Kyler asked me.
I didn't need to answer when Jordin and Casper fell into the wet cement.
