Kai heard someone yelling her name from the leap master on the floor below. She recognized Asher's voice immediately and it sent butterflies through her stomach.

"Hey Asher, I'm in my room come up here," Kai yelled back to him.

Kai has been really good friends for a really long time, even before she and Marella. She'd never really had a crush on him until recently. It seemed like every time he talked to her, she had butterflies in her stomach.

"Woah, your room looks different," He said as he walked in.

"Yeah well... it's been a while I guess," Kai said knowing that he understood what she meant.

Asher hadn't been here since her dad died and that was when she was younger.

"I like the red," He said and sat close to her on the bed.

He was referring to the red accent wall Kai had hastily painted last year. She had an argument with her mom that day.

"Thanks," Kai breathed quietly.

It was very unlike her to be shy, but she felt Asher's eyes on her and it made her blush.

"You okay Kai?" He asked. It was such a simple question, but it seemed to weigh in on the air. "Kai I know something is wrong and if you need to talk, just remember I'm always here,"

Kai blinked tears away and nodded. She needed to tell him.

"I saw... I saw Grady today,"

Kai didn't look at him but kept her eyes trained on her hands, which lay in her lap.

"I ran once he saw me," Kai chuckled, although it didn't seem like the right time she somehow found it slightly funny.

"I'm sorry," He said softly and pulled Kai into a hug.

Kai could tell she was blushing but she held him tightly in the hug. She felt good to be in his arms.

As they pulled away, Kai heard another person come in from the leap master. She snuck a glimpse of Asher, whose face was tinted pink. She smiled at that and yelled down to the person on the floor below, "We're upstairs, just come on up"

After a few seconds, Zayne popped his head into the room and smirked.

"Hope I didn't interrupt anything," He joked and Kai had to laugh because he had in fact interrupted something.

"Shut up Zayne," Asher laughed, but he still was blushing. More than before.

Kai smiled again and sat closer to him.

"Okay, so ideas for what to do when the rest of the gang gets here?" Kai asks Zayne.

"Hmm okay, I was thinking we could play base quest because your backyard it perfect for that," He said looking out the gigantic window in Kai's bedroom.

"Oooo I call Gracelyn for my team because she's the telepath," Kai says quickly before either of the boys can call her.

"Oh shut up we aren't picking teams yet anyways," Zayne says.

"Dude, that's just because you want her on your team," Asher teases, "and not because she's a telepath,"

Kai giggles when Zayne blushes. "Aw, Zayne you like her?"

"What no," He says unconvincingly. Kai smirks and Zayne runs his hand down his face.

"Bro you totally like her," Asher says, "You are blushing,"

"No, I'm not," He says rubbing his face as if he could wipe the pink away.

"You guys would look so cute together," Kai says giggling more.

"Ugh stop it," He whines. This makes Kai laugh harder.

"Okay but you should ask her out," Kai says.

Unfortunately, Zayne's reply is shut out by someone coming in from the leap master on the floor below.

"Hello?" They ask. Kai gets up from the bed and walks towards the door.

"Oh hey Gracelyn," Kai says shooting Zayne a smirk.

She goes over to the stairwell to greet their newest friend.
