Chapter 50

Kai decided to meet with Keefe as quickly as possible before talking with Biana. Her plan was to make it seem like a fashion emergency and that she needed a makeover tomorrow. She could only hope that Biana was free. 

She saw Keefe already standing in the hallway that they had been standing in earlier. Kai grabbed the rock from her pocket and walked up to him. 

"Your mom gave this to me," Kai whispered as she handed it over. She tried to make it seem like they were just talking. "She said to remind you of your legacy." 

Keefe sighed, "I thought as much." 

Kai's gaze softened. "I'm sorry I don't have any more information for you." 

Keefe nodded and shoved the rock in his pocket. "Thanks." 

He walked away quickly with Ro and headed back down the same stairs he had earlier. 

Next was Biana. 

"Biana!" Kai shouted across a pathway. 

She was standing with Marella and Linh, hopefully they could make this less weird. 

"Hey Kai, how's it going?" She asked. 

"Good but I need your help."

Kai explained the situation, which wasn't a total lie. I mean her and Asher were hanging out tomorrow, just not in the way Kai was making it sound to Biana. 

"Oh my god! So, you need a makeover!" Biana squealed. "YES! This is so great!" 

"I'm thinking, your place 9 am tomorrow?" Kai asked.

"Perfect! Linh Marella you guys should come too." Biana said excitedly. 

Kai wondered if Biana was getting tired of being at home with only her family since Alvar arrived.

"Sure, I'd love to come," Marella said. 

Things till felt tense between them, but Kai felt confident that they just needed time to get used to each other again. 

"Yeah, me too," Linh said. 

"Yay!" Kai said. "Sounds like a plan." 

As Kai walked away, she felt her heart ache with guilt. If Gisela ended up doing something bad, it would be completely her fault.

"Kyo it won't be thaaaat bad," Kai said, making Linh giggle. 

Her goblin bodyguard definitely had something against makeovers.

"I do not want to watch you get your hair done for three hours," she grumbled. 

Kai decided to not respond, she was stressing out too much about what Gisela was doing. What of she was freeing Alvar? What if she was trying to hurt the Vackers? There were so many things that could go wrong, which made Kai doubt if she should be helping. 

"Let's go," she said as her and Linh approached the Leap master. 

"Everglen!" 

She felt the light carry her away, but all she was focused on was how she needed to do this.

Gisela had saved her life, so she owed it to her. 

The bright light of the fence pierced Kai's eyes as her and Linh glittered back into existence. Kai immediately looked around for Gisela. She wasn't sure what was happening, but she knew that somehow Gisela was there. 

"What?" Kyo asked, making Kai jump. She had completely forgotten that Kyo was there. 

"Oh nothing, the forest just creeps me out," Kai said, hoping that they would believe her. 

But before Kyo could respond, Kai saw the enormous light fence begin to open, reveling Biana and her tall bodyguard stood standing there and as soon as he saw Kyo, he began bowing. 

"Your Majesty," Woltzer said. 

Kyo smiled and went over to place her hand on his shoulder. 

"Thank you for your services here," she said. "I'm glad to be working alongside you to protect these children." 

With that Woltzer stood and the two goblins nodded. 

"YOUR MAJESTY?" Biana yelled. "No way you're a princess?" 

Biana seemed to not care about formalities at the moment. 

"Yes, my mother is Queen Hylda," 

Biana stood there in shock for a few seconds before bowing as well. 

"It is an honor to meet you your majesty," Biana said. 

Kyo smiled saying, "Please, both of you, call me Kyo," 

Kyo and Woltzer talked some more as they waited for Marella.

"How's it with Alvar here?" Linh asked quietly to Biana.

Kai blocked out their conversation as she glanced around the woods listening for Gisela. Instead, she saw a pair of grey footprints in the dirt.
