Chapter 10

Kai thought about Sophie Foster as she cleaned. She wasn't sure why, but as she listened to Bricen and Angin joke about how bad of a job they were doing Sophie just popped into her head. She wondered what went on inside Sophie's head. How does someone have that much stuff in their brain? How does one person have five abilities? Why are her eyes brown? That one always intrigued Kai.

"Okay that should do," Gracelyn says, snapping Kai out of her thoughts. She stands back to admire the cleaning. 

"Yeah, and I'm sure the gnomes will clean it again later anyway," Kai says. 

Zayne looked relieved to have stopped cleaning.

"Yes, so can we have one yet Kasi?" Amaria asks eagerly. Everyone looked at her expectantly. 

She laughs and heads back over to the baking tray and lightly touches one of the ripplepuffs. "Hm okay yes I think that they have cooled off enough," 

As soon as she says that, Zayne springs into action taking three at once. 

"Dude share with everyone else too," Angin says and takes one of Zayne's.

"Rude," Zayne replies and takes the ripplepuff back.

Kai laughs at their stupidity and takes one of the ripplepuffs. She wasn't sure what flavor Kasi had done so she was surprised. It tasted exactly like Ida's. It was a sweet caramel flavor, with a hint of salty. It was definitely one of the best ripplepuffs she's had.

"Woah Kasi these are delicious," Asher says with a mouthful. 

Kasi blushes, "Thank you! I think it's one of my best batches," 

Kai feels a pang of jealousy but ignores it. She knew Kasi deserved that praise, the ripplepuffs were so good. 

"Kasi I promote you to our official lunchtime treat bringer," Zayne announces. "You will now be forced to bring us treats," 

Kasi rolls her eyes. "I'm not sure that you need more treats in your life Zayne, you already eat like a million butterblasts a day."

Kai laughs, it was true. 

"Hah, that's not even close to enough," Zayne says. 

"Sure dude, because more butterblasts is what we all need," Angin says. 

Angin is known for hating butterblasts, Kai has never understood him. Butterblasts were the best treat ever. 

"Everyone knows you hate butterblasts Angin, but not everyone is weird like you," Amaria jokes.

"Can we head back to your room Kai?" Asher asks. Kai isn't sure why he wants to go back to her room, but she decides not to ask. 

"Sure," 

"Awesome," He says and begins to run to the stairs. 

"What's got him so excited?" Zayne asks. Kai wonders the same thing. 

"I guess let's follow him," Bricen says.  

They all head up the stairs, to follow Asher. Kai is really curious as to what Asher is doing in her room. Hopefully, he's not looking for embarrassing stuff. 

"Dude, what the heck are you doing?" Angin asks when they enter Kai's room. 

Asher was lying on the floor and squinting at one of the walls. 

"Asher?" Amaria asks, trying to get his attention. It isn't working, he is focused on the wall. 

"What are you looking at?" Kai asks him.
