Mewberty part 1

Comet's POV

Star, Marco, and I were in Art Class, finishing our sketches for the upcoming project. Well, Marco and I were. Star on the other hand... was currently looking out of the window at her crush Oskar.

That boy never seemed to go to class: I wasn't even sure whether he actually went to school here. 

The bell rang, announcing the end of the day. When Marco and I had put our equipment away, Star was still occupied with looking out of the window. "Star", I waved my hand in front of her face. "Star, if you don't pack up now, we're going without you." 

When she didn't react, Marco loudly said "Star! Time to go." She looked at us and I noticed a purple heart on her forehead. "You got paint or something." So Marco had noticed too. I pointed at her forehead, and she peeled it off. She gasped when she saw what it looked like. "Marco, Comet, this isn't paint."

I realized what she meant. "You, don't think you have...", I started asking. Star nodded. Marco, unfazed by this simply shrugged. "Well, looks like you've got another heart." "Quiet, Marco. This is serious!", Star said. "I think I'm going through... Mewberty." 

At this, more purple hearts appeared on her face. Star frantically pulled her hair to cover her face. "Weeellll, oookaaay. Uh, mewberty. That's nothing to be afraid of. We have a similar thing here on Earth", Marco assured and chuckled. I looked at him and said "Uh, Marco, mewberty doesn't work that way." "Yeah, don't confuse this with your Earth things, Marco! I'm from Mewni!", Star yelled and pointed her finger at Marco. "This is going to get really weird", she whispered. She grabbed me by my backpack straps and said "You gotta keep me away from boys Comet." Suddenly, as if she were possessed, Star turned her head to Marco with hearts in her eyes and slowly said "Wait a second... Marco's a boy." 

I quickly put my hands in front of her eyes, blocking her view, and pulled her back. "Star, avert your eyes. Look at me!" Star looked at me and calmed down. "When you said this was going to get weird, do you mean typical-Star weird or, like, destroy-the-school weird?", Marco nervously asked and backed away a little. Since Star was still fighting against the urge to look at him, I replied "Destroy-the-school."

"That's what I was worried about. Let's get Star home." He guided us to the school entrance the fastest way possible. Star grabbed my hand while frantically turning her head at all the boys in the hallway. When did the whole student body become male? 

"Oh-no-oh-no-oh-no. Okay, here comes a boy. You got this. You got this. Avert your eyes. Avert your eyes", Star whispered to herself. I felt sorry for her. I had mewberty back when we were at home. I had been able to lock myself in my room for a few hours, and it was over after that. Star wasn't so lucky. "Marco, I don't think this is such a good ideahhh...", Star started but pulled away from my grasp. Marco and I turned around to see her at the water fountain, staring at a boy as he drank from it. More hearts appeared on her face and arm as she blocked the water and looked at our classmate with her heart eyes. "Huh?", the boy looked at her confused. "My turn", she chirped, and Marco and I grabbed her. "Whoa, okay let's go!", Marco said and pulled us to the exit. 

Apparently, Star's mewberty thought otherwise. A purple something extended from her right arm and glued itself to the locker next to us. Marco and Star screamed, Marco pulled away from Star, while she started pulling away from the locker. She failed and it resulted in her opening the locker and being pulled into it. "...I'm stuck", she said. 

"Let me help", Marco said and tried helping her, but I pushed him away quickly. "No", I firmly said. "Your little boy hands are part of the problem", Star said and closed the locker, with her in it. 

The two of them continued panicking. I got tired of it and loudly demanded "Be quiet!" Surprised at my sudden outburst, Marco and Star looked at me, waiting for me to say something. I blushed when I realized what I had just done. 

"Sorry", I took a deep breath. First, I had to comfort Star, before her emotions made her go wild. "Star, you know I already had mewberty. I know what to do, okay? You just need to calm down and isolate yourself for now."

Then I looked at Marco. "Marco, you go home and get our Magic Instruction Book from under my bed." He nodded, but Star's voice from the locker interrupted us. "It's not at home! I gave it to Ferguson." "What?! Why?", I asked her. "I lost a bet okay?!", she defended herself. "Star, why would you bet on our Book of Spells?!", I asked. "Don't worry", Marco said. "I'll get it from Ferguson. You stay here and look after Star." I nodded, and he ran off to go find Ferguson. Now it was just Star and me. Everyone else was either in class or at home. 

I heard Star slumping to the ground of the locker. "This is horrible", she sadly said. I could hear she was close to tears. I put a hand on the locker and sat down on the ground. "Don't worry, it'll be over soon. Once Marco has the book, I'll ask Glossaryck to help us." What would mom do in this situation? She had comforted me with these words. But Star wasn't me. I know I had to handle this differently. 

I had an idea. "And you know what? When this is all over, you'll have really cool wings!", I told her. I could feel her smiling and she laughed a bit. "Yeah. I hope they'll be as cool as yours!", she said. We sat there in silence, as we waited for Marco to come back. 

"Oh, hey Comet. Thanks for lending me your magic book", Janna said as she walked by with a bag. Wait magic book? "I thought Ferguson had the book." "Yeah, but he gave it to me", Janna said and walked away. "Wait, Janna!", I turned to the locker and quickly told Star "I have to get that book. Don't worry, I'll be right back."

And just like that, Star was on her own. The bell rang, indicating the break's beginning. I just hoped Star would be okay.
