Comet POV:

"Quickly! Get on here!", Star yelled, and helped us up on the back of a large white rabbit. The rabbit started moving in slow-motion. "I hate this dimension", Marco grumbled, as we got off just as quick as we had got on.

We spotted Father Time playing in a stream. When he saw us, he quickly crossed to the other side. Star, Marco, and I sprung on one of the clocks floating in the water. When we landed on the clock, a piercing white light engulfed us. When it was gone, everything seemed to have gotten bigger. I turned to look at Star, only to find a toddler next to me. Surprised, I let go of her hand, and fell on the floor. The toddler form of Star helped toddler Marco to stay on the clock, which was shaking from the impact of our jump. I looked at my hands and learned that I had also become a younger version of myself.

Star and I took each other by the hands, and jumped to the next clock. This time, I was looking at an elderly Star, with drooping heart marks. "Oh, my hearts...", Star's feeble, elderly voice spoke. We glanced over to Marco, who tried to cross from one clock to the other as well. He fell over, landing on our clock with his face. Immediately, his head changed into that of an elderly man, while his body remained to be that of an infant. "Not. A. Word.", he grumbled in a raspy voice. Star and I helped him up, all the while suppressing our laughter.

We jumped of the clock, and finally returned to our normal appearances. "He went that way", I said, pointing into the direction I remembered him walking to. We ran across the land, until we saw his figure entering a large building. We skipped to a halt in front of the buildings entrance, and were greeted by a hall with thousands of televisions, depicting different dimensions and their history.

"Wow...", Marco breathed, "It's the history of the whole universe! Ooh! Battle of Lexington. Nailed it." "Ah!" Star jumped back, and grabbed my arm, as a giant eyeball descended from the ceiling. It started at her and me with its big pupil, before slowly closing its eyelid. The televisions in the room turned of, before all showing the same film: In a cradle, surrounded by pillows and blankets of different sizes and colors, lay Star and I as infants. "It... It's us!", Star gasped.

I watched as the televisions showed snippets of our life: Star and I playing with different toys when we were babies, Mom giving me Pearl as a present, Star taking the royal carriage for a joyride while Dad ran after her, us being taught how to sword fight by our babysitter. "Aw, I remember that!",Star gushed. I felt a small lump of nostalgia form in my lung. I nodded, smiling at the depiction of our life: a young Star and Ponyhead stealing from Cylopses, Mom baking pies with us, us taking a picture at New Year with Ponyhead and Tom, Star and I holding hands as we watched a firework show from the roof of the castle, and Star and Ponyhead going through their punk phase. "Watching us is fun", Star laughed.

The final films showed us riding the warnicorn to the castle on our birthday, us meeting Marco and fighting Ludo with him, and finally the mirror image of ourselves. "Oh! Hi me!", Star said, waving at herself. She smiled at me, and I smiled back as we interlocked our hands together and formed a heart with the other. We smiled at the camera, and it turned off once more.

"This place must keep track of everything we've done in our lives", Marco realised. The giant eyeball looked at Marco, closed its eyelid again, an the televisions showed a young Marco. "Aww, baby Marco! You were so cute", Star squealed.

The screen showed Marco in kindergarten, nodding at a young Jackie. The film continued, showing over and over again how Marco nodded at Jackie up till now. Then, the screens cut to static. "... Wow. I've been nodding for a long time", he realised. Star and I looked at each other, before each putting a comforting hand on his shoulder. "It'll be okay. There is always another chance...", Star said. "Not, if we don't find that Time guy", Marco mumbled.

"Hey guys!", Father Time said. We turned around to find him standing in the door, playing with a spring door stopper. "Isn't this place incredible? It's like we're living in the future!", Father Time continued. "Emerald Snake Strike!", Star yelled, wrapping Marco and Father Time in green snakes. "Great. I think we got him", Marco deadpanned, before a snack slithered across his face, "Yuck. Okay buddy, let's get you back to your wheel."

"But I don't wanna yet", Father Time whined. "Father Time, this isn't something you do when you feel like it. This is your duty", I said. We led him to the entrance of the hall, when the giant eyeball descended once more to look at him. It closed its eye one more time, and the televisions turned from static to the film of Father Time's life.

It showed him running on the Wheel of Progress as time flew past him. At first, he had a happy expression, but the longer the film went, the more depressed he seemed to get. The once happy smile had turned into a sad frown over time. Finally, the televisions went static once more.

We looked at each other sympathetically. I felt bad for trying to get Father Time back into the wheel. I had been blinded by my fear of loosing my loved ones to time, that I hadn't even thought of how he must've felt all this time. Of course he wouldn't want to do his duty if he had finally experienced freedom for the first time...

Father Time sighed, and smiled bravely. "Ah, all right. I guess I'll get back to doing that. Oh, well, it's only for all eternity. But as you said, that is my duty..." Marco sighed. "We can't just make him", he said, and I nodded. "Surely, there's some other way", I suggested. We watched as Father Time petted a giant hamster. Star grinned. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?", she asked us

"Actually, I was thinking we'd- ... Never mind, it works", Marco said. Star had turned the Wheel of Progress into a hamster-drawn carriage, with a seat for Father Time on top. "Now you can go anywhere you want and keep the wheel moving", she happily explained. "Aww, thanks guys. I owe ya", Father Time gratefully said, "Please, help yourself to any of my mud. Even the nice stuff." He pointed at a pile of mud, which had apparently become his mud collection. At different places he had put name tags, reading 'VOLCANIC', 'MOOR MUD', 'SLURRY', 'BLACK', 'MUCK', 'SEA BED', and other names.

"Eh, we're good", Marco said. "Oh, and maybe don't freeze time again", Father Time said on a more serious note, "It's kind of fragile. You don't want to break it. Know what I mean? Well, so long! Time hamsters away! Yoo-hoo!" He whipped the carriage reins, and the hamsters started moving, pulling the Wheel of Progress. We smiled at each other, when Star realized, "Wait. The wheel's moving. We've got to get back!"

We just stepped out of the portal when time started moving again on Earth. Jackie skated past us, and Marco gave her a nod, as he always did. She nodded back at him. Star and I looked from him to her, hoping he would gain the courage to take the next step.

"... Hey, Jackie!", Marco called out. Star grinned at me, and I gave her a happy smile back. Jackie stopped and turned around in surprise. "Hey Marco!", she greeted back, smiling at him. The two of them looked at each other in silence, before Jackie turned back to her skateboard. "Well, see ya!" With that, she skateboarded away.

As soon as she was gone, Marco gasped, as if he had forgotten to breath the entire interaction long. Star and I quickly walked up to him. "You did it! You finally talked to her! What happened to waiting for the right time?", Star asked. "Well, all of a sudden, I thought: if you have the time, why waste it?", Marco explained, "Looks like I'm finally getting somewhere."
