Comet's POV:

"Hey! Comet!" I heard Marco's voice call out. I turned around to see him on his bike, close behind me. He stopped next to me and jumped off his bike. "How was it at the library?"

"It was very nice. I met Jackie and we had some ice cream together", I replied, giggling when Marco's eyes went wide and his mouth fell open. "Jackie Lynn Thomas? Really?" I smiled, retelling him what exactly had happened.

When I was done I asked, "Where's Star?" "She probably went back home... I'll go out with her to get her Banagic Wand once we're back. Wanna come with us?", Marco replied.  "Wait you weren't there yet?", I asked mildly surprised. "Like I said, I really had to go to karate class this time", Marco explained. "I see... Sure, why not? I'm in the mood for going out", I decided, smiling at him.

When we arrived at his home and Marco opened the door. "Star! We're back!", he called out as we took of our shoes and entered the living room, "Still wanna go-?"

Surprised, we looked at each other and back at the room, where Star was happily eating her Banagic ice cream with a group of people dressed like pirates.

"Oh! Hey Comet, hey Marco! I conquered my boredom!", Star cheerfully greeted us. "Uhh... Hey", Marco greeted, putting his helmet down on the table. "Here." Star pushed a bowl of ice cream into Marco's and my hands. "I went downtown myself", she proudly said.

"I know, I was there...", Marco mumbled. "It was easy! I guess you can say I've totally mastered Earth", Star said and looked at my wrist. "Comet, what's that?"

"Hmm? Oh, that's Jackie's number. I met her in the library." Star's eyes went wide, and she started squealing. "Ah! My baby sister made a friend all by herself!" She hugged me tightly, almost letting her bowl of ice cream fall. "Still only eight minutes younger", I pressed out, with what little breath Star had left from her crushing hug. "But younger nonetheless", Star cheekily replied.

Marco smiled at her apologetically. "Sorry, I underestimated you", he admitted bashfully.

"You underestimated me?", Star echoed, surprised. "Ehmmm, yeah, I did", he admitted, "Sorry. I didn't think you could go shopping on your own... This stuff looks delicious though."

Star looked at me and pushed a bowl of ice cream in my hands, "Here you go Comet!"

I smiled and put the bowl back on the counter. "Sorry Star, but I already had ice cream outside. Safe some for me though. I'll go upstairs for now." She nodded happily and the pirates waved me goodbye, which I somewhat hesitantly returned.

When I was upstairs I put the borrowed books on my book shelf and pulled out my portable mirror. With a smile, I put the scribbled notes on my wrist into my mirror.

Jackie Lynn Thomas

today

Hello Jackie, this is Comet

Hi Comet! I just got home ;D Are you free next Friday? We could go

to the library again :3

That'd be nice. I'm looking forward to it. See you on Monday.

See ya! :D

I left the chat and my gaze fell on Tom's contact once again. If he really is busy, he can always answer a text later...

Tom Lucitor

today

Hey Tom, it's been a while. How are you?

I was about to shut the mirror when it buzzed with a new message:

Comet, hi! Surprised you wrote me!

I'm doing good. I got that video game I talked about.

It was half as bad at quest buy.

Really? That's nice

... What about you? What did you do today?

I was at the library.

I think I made a new friend.

You mean Star made a new friend?

No, Star wasn't there. She was busy hunting down

Earth magic today.

Ah, I see. I'm happy for you

It was about time you made some friends on your own

accord.

Yeah, I agree. It was not nearly as bad as I thought

it'd be...

That's good!

...

Well, I gotta go now... Call me up if you need anything.

Alright, see you around

And thank you, Tom.

With a smile, I flipped the mirror shut. I felt a lot better than before, my mind clear from any doubts.

"Comet! You're ice cream is melting!", Star called from downstairs. I got up, leaving the mirror on my bed. "I'm coming!"

Third-person POV:

From the small clouds the first few droplets of a light summer rain started to fall. The sun's rays were broken in the rain, creating a rainbow in the sky.

The twins, Marco, and the pirate crew were gathered in the living room playing different board games together. The radio was playing music, interrupted every now and then by advertisement for the Banagic Wand.

Star noticed that Comet was a lot more laid back, more outspoken today. She smiled happily. Dad, I think Comet soon won't need me to take care of her anymore.
