Crash
"Babe, careful with the door," I said after hearing the front door slam a second time today.
"Hard to do with my hands full. I had to use my foot," Scott replied, looking at me over the two boxes he carried.
"The back of the car is open. Just put them in there please," I said, walking back inside the house to get more boxes.
Another move, I had gotten used to not staying in one place for very long. That's just how it was when you were part of the military. I have lived in many states throughout the fifteen years I have been on this earth. Usually we stay for at least two years before moving to a new state but this time we had only been in Virginia for a little over a year before my dad got orders that he was being stationed in Indiana. The upside to this move was that while he would live on base; myself, my mom and sister would live with my grandparents in Hawkins, Indiana where my dad is from. The downsides are that my dad will be several hours away, I would be arriving after the school year has started and I am leaving my friends and boyfriend behind. Scott and I only just got together this summer, we had only known each other since the end of the school year since we went to different schools but it was still hard to be leaving him.
The second person I would miss most would be my best friend Megan, we had known each other since we were little as both our fathers are in the military. She is the only person I have kept in contact with all these years, everyone else just stopped talking only a few months after I moved. She and Scott were currently helping us pack the car up with all our belongings, all our furniture was staying and we had sold a majority of our things that we would need for the next few years since we would be living with my grandparents who had a house full of the necessities. We took things that were sentimental of course, and whatever doesn't fit in our car Megan's parents said they would see to it that it was shipped to us.
Once everything was packed, there were only a couple of boxes that wouldn't fit so Megan and her mom packed them into their car to keep at their house for now. When that was done we all had gone inside to enjoy some pizza that my mom ordered while we had all been finishing up. Scott had just gotten back from picking it up while we had put the last few boxes into the car. My sister Emma was chatting about how exciting it was going to be to see our grandparents again, it had been about three years or so since we last saw them. We hadn't seen them since we moved to Virginia. Once pizza was consumed, the goodbyes began.
"I'm gonna miss you so much Rachel" Megan said as we hugged tightly.
"I'm gonna miss you too, but I'll still call and write whenever I get the chance. I'll send you photos too" I replied.
"Oh I look forward to it."
When she and I had let go she went over to hug Emma while I turned to Scott who was leaning against his car. I stepped over to him and put my arms around his waist and he put his arms around mine.
"I'm going to miss you, I'm coming for whatever break I can get my parents to let me leave for." he said as he kissed the top of my head.
"I'm gonna miss you, I'll call you a ton and send you pictures of me so you don't forget what I look like" I replied.
"I could never forget this face" he moved his hand to the back of my neck to kiss me deeply.
"You sure I can't convince you to sneak out tonight for a quickie before you go?" he whispered in my ear after I pulled away.
I shook my head, for the last week he has been trying to get me alone so we could have sex before I left. I didn't want to, it was a new relationship and all plus I was leaving..not to mention that I had a bit of trauma involving sex which he had no clue about. I have managed to keep him at bay on it, saying I didn't want this to just be a hookup but an actual relationship.
