I woke up the next morning, still facing Steve as my head was resting on my arm while my other hand was softly resting against Steve's between us. I heard movement and saw Dustin going up the ladder with his walkie. The noise was enough to wake Steve up.
"Morning Sailor," I said.
"Morning Red" was his groggy reply.
We realized that we needed to get up and try once again to figure out how to get back to the mall. He went up with Dustin and I went to check on Robin and Erica.
Third Person POV
Dustin and Steve talked about how Dustin was using the walkie and that the mall was open now so someone might be in range to hear him. Steve replied crankily about the mall cop coming down to rescue them all.
"Alright why are you such cranky pants after getting to spend the night with Rachel?" Dustin asked.
"Geez, will you ever stop talking about it?" Steve asked.
"I heard you guys talking last night."
"Yeah we were trying to figure out a way to open the door and to get out of here. After spending hours on it and getting very little sleep we are still nowhere, which could be why I'm a bit cranky."
End
Robin and I were trying to figure out the door, maybe we could get the electrical box opened up and hot-wire something but we heard a clanging and saw Erica was banging the weird green canister against something.
"Whoa, what are you doing? Be careful, we don't know what that is" I said running over and taking it from her.
"Exactly it could be useful," she replied.
"How?" Robin replied from behind me.
"We could survive without food for a while but without water, human bodies will die" Erica replied.
"This is not water, okay I hate to break it to you."
"No but it's liquid, I would drink it if it came down to doing that or dying of thirst."
There was then noise coming from outside, we all hid up top while we waited and saw two people enter the elevator and begin to unload boxes. When they were gone and the elevator door began closing again Steve jumped down and used the green canister to keep it from closing, each of us getting under it before the weight was too much and broke the canister and it began melting the area around where it was.
"You still want to drink that?" I asked Erica as I looked at her.
We began to make our way down the long hallway before us, no idea where to go or who we might run into but we walked on. We talked about what the liquid could be or what they used it for, Dustin said something about it and Robin and I chimed in trying to explain it to Steve then Erica called everyone nerds and Steve quickly jumped in saying not to lump him in with that. As the conversation went on, Dustin, myself and Steve stopped to talk about the possibility that the Russians knew about the gate that was in Hawkins Lab and of the Upside Down. Erica and Robin stopped and asked if there was something we'd like to share then the walkie went off. The Russian code was being given out.
"There has to be somewhere nearby that it's broadcasting from, we find it and we can call the surface and get help" I said.
We set off to find where they were broadcasting and we found people, a lot of people. In the brief glances we got before having to hide again Erica had seen the comms room, we just needed to time it right to make it over there without being noticed. We made it in, Steve was closing the door but Robin, Dustin, Erica and I were facing forward and we were not alone in the room. A single soldier was at the comms, he was turning around as Steve closed the door. Robin tried to use the bit of Russian she knew to speak and the man was just confused, he went to draw his gun and Steve rushed him. They briefly fought before Steve knocked him out. He fixed his hair a bit and I could not take my eyes off of him. I swallowed hard.
